YAKIMA, Wash. - Jimmy Comerota walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth inning, capping a late inning Yakima rally, as the Bears knocked off the Boise Hawks, 9-8, before 1,912 fans at County Stadium.

Trailing 8-4 in the eighth, the Bears rallied to tie the score - taking advantage of a key Boise error to prolong the inning, as a two-run triple by Kerry Jenkins got Yakima within a run, with Westley Moss blooping a single into right to tie the game.

Yakima nearly won it in the ninth, loading the bases with no outs, but Bryce Shafer fanned two batters and got a pop up to escape. However, the Bears got a Jenkins walk off Andrew McKirahan, making his Boise debut in the tenth, with Moss following with an infield single. Carter Bell walked on a 3-2 pitch, with Comerota watching four pitches miss for the walk-off win - as Boise lost for just the third time in 28 games when leading heading into the eighth.

A five-run third inning gave Boise a 6-4 lead, as Ryan Cuneo clubbed his fifth homer of season, a two-run shot, Wes Darvill lined an RBI single, and Brad Zapenas laced a two-run single. A pair of RBI singles by Zeke DeVoss, part of a 4-of-6 nice, pushed the Hawks lead to 8-4 in the eighth.

Justin Albert got the win, retiring all six men he faced tonight, while Jenkins went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in the win.

The Hawks had 14 hits in the loss, with Cuneo, Darvill, Zapenas, Oliver Zapata, and Rafael Lopez each logging two hits. Jean Sandoval was stellar in the loss, tossing five and two-third innings of three-hit relief, striking out seven - as starter Willengton Cruz lasted just one-third of an inning.

The final game of the series is tomorrow night, with Ben Wells meeting John Pedrotty at 8:05 p.m.

NOTES - The game was the longest of the season for the Hawks time wise, taking 3:34...Lopez saw his first game action since Aug. 13 due to a calf injury...the 14 strikeouts by Boise pitchers was the most of the season...the loss drops the Hawks three games back of Spokane for the final postseason berth (if Tri-City wins the second half) and four games back of Tri-City in the second half standings.
