Great Falls Voyagers News Release

After clinching a series win and a winning road trip with their victory over Grand Junction last night, the Voyagers go for a sweep of the Rockies tonight at Suplizio Field.

Great Falls Voyagers (8-4, 25-23) at Grand Junction Rockies (2-10, 22-28)

RHP Brannon Easterling (4-1, 3.22) vs. RHP Gavin Glanz (2-2, 5.90)

7:05 p.m. - Suplizio Field (Grand Junction, Colo.)

VOYAGERS HOLD ON LATE

Great Falls jumped out to a 4-0 lead Tuesday, but had to hold on late as Grand Junction rallied in the late innings. The Rockies left the tying run at third in the ninth as the Voyagers claimed their second straight one-run win, 4-3. Zach Fish opened the scoring for the visitors, singling in the contest's first tally in the fourth. Great Falls then added three in the sixth as RBI singles from Johan Cruz and Antonio Rodriguez and a Rockies error made it 4-0. Grand Junction closed the gap with two in the seventh and then one in the eighth. In the ninth, Chris Rabago led off with a double, moved to third with one out, but was left stranded by lefty Alex Katz.

ASCENDANT ANTONIO

Antonio Rodriguez kept his hitting streak alive with an RBI single last night, extending it to nine in a row, the longest current streak by a Voyager. The 20-year old has now hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games, raising his season batting average from .227 to .260. The Dominican native is also second on the club with six homers and 31 RBIs, one behind team leader Zach Fish.

STARTING STRONG

Starting pitching has been a strength for Great Falls all season long, and that continued last night as right-hander Matt Ball scattered four hits over five scoreless innings to earn his second win of the season. For the year, Voyagers starters have amassed 13 quality starts in 48 games, and the rotation's ERA now sits at 3.36. Great Falls will turn to righty Brandon Magallones to keep that trend going in tonight's series and road trip finale against Grand Junction. The former Northwestern Wildcat has tossed five scoreless innings in each of his last two starts, earning the win both times. This will be his first start against the Rockies.

END OF THE ROAD

Tonight's series finale in Grand Junction wraps-up the Voyagers seven-game road trip and ends a long stretch with very few home games. Great Falls has played just six games at Centene Stadium since July 13. This road trip has been a good one for the Voyagers, as last night's win clinched a winning trip. Great Falls will play 13 of their next 17 at home, starting Friday night.
