Spokane Indians News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Indians fans already know that Avista Stadium is one of the finest ballparks in the country, and now with your help, the rest of the baseball world can, too! Ballpark Digest is holding its annual Best of the Ballparks competition and voting is currently underway for Short Season-A stadiums, which includes our own beloved ballpark.

One of the crown jewels of Minor League Baseball, Avista Stadium was built in 1958 as a home for the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate after the team moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. Since that time, the ballpark has served as a training ground for future Hall of Famers, been home of the greatest minor league team in the second half of the 20th century, and even played host to the inaugural Northwest League vs. Pioneer League All-Star Game in 2015. In 2013, Avista Stadium underwent major renovations including concessions facilities and a new team store, and in 2014, nearly 300 parking spaces were added to help improve the game day experience for our fans. Last year, Avista Stadium was named as a Top 100 Stadium Experience in North America, finishing ahead of notable MLB venues like Petco Park and AT&T Stadium.

It's not just the ballpark itself that sets our friendly confines apart, though. The playing surface in Spokane is widely regarded as big league quality with Avista Stadium having been named NWL Field of the Year for 18 of the past 21 seasons. The award is given annually to the team that has the best playing surface and maintains the highest quality field throughout the 76-game season as voted on by Northwest League managers and coaches.

Fans are allowed to vote multiple times, but can only vote once per day. You don't need to fill out a full slate: partially filled votes will count. For more information about the contest, please visit ballparkdigest.com.
