Winger Jakub Voracek is the Halifax Mooseheads' "Citadel Halifax Player of the Month" for October, Head Coach Cam Russell announced today at the team's monthly luncheon.
The 17-year-old Voracek, in his first season with the Mooseheads, scored six goals, two of them game winning goals, and added 12 assists, for 18 points, playing in all 11 of the Mooseheads' games during the month, while recording a plus 2 rating.
Voracek's scoring onslaught included a pair of four-point games, Oct. 22 at Moncton, four assists in a 5-1 victory, and the winning goal in overtime, plus three assists, Oct. 28 in a 7-6 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at Metro Centre. Voracek's exploits also earned him the QMJHL Rookie of the Month Award for October.
Voracek, selected by Halifax first overall in last summer's Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, currently leads the Mooseheads in scoring with 31 points and also tops the team in goals, 13, assists, 18, and winning goals, 4. Voracek leads all QMJHL rookies in points, assists and winning goals.
