MAINEiacs win overtime thriller 4-3 against Bathurst

Lewiston, ME - The MAINEiacs redeemed themselves from giving up a 2-goal lead with an exciting overtime victory against the speedy Acadie-Bathurst Titan. In what was surprisingly a very fast paced game, with the fact that Lewiston had only 1 day rest from coming back from a grueling 6-game in 9-day roadtrip, fans were treated to a very face paced game.

Bathurst opened the scoring late in the first period on a tally from Jordan Clendenning, his 7th on the season. The MAINEiacs replied as Chris Tutallo continued his stellar play of late, scoring his 5th on the year with the help of Perron and Courcelles. Lewiston stretched the lead in the second period as Chad Denny notched his first of 2 on the powerplay with the help of Castonguay. Simon Courcellles extended the lead to 2 as he scored his 4th of the season, another powerplay marker with the assists going to Piché and Giliati. Bathurst narrowed the gap with 3 minutes remaining in the second as Patrick Bordeleau scored his 1st on the season, another powerplay marker.

The final frame would remain scoreless until Lewiston took a costly penalty by Sebastien Piché with only 1 minute remaining. Bathurst's Dany Massé would capitalize with only 47 seconds remaining, forcing the game to overtime.

In the extra 5 minutes, it would be Justin Vienneau from the Titan who would be penalized, providing the powerplay opportunity for the MAINEiacs. Chad Denny took advantage on a nice feed from David Perron (his 3rd point) to clinch the victory.

The MAINEiacs face off against the PEI Rocket this weekend for a double-header Friday and Saturday evenings.
