(Halifax, NS) October 9, 2018: The Host Organizing Committee for the 2019 Memorial Cup presented by Kia is looking for volunteers as the City of Halifax plays host to the Canadian Hockey League's elite from May 16th to 26th, 2019.

Volunteer applications can be submitted to the Host Organizing Committee beginning Wednesday, October 10th. Last hosted in 2000, Halifax has waited for almost 20 years to see the Memorial Cup return, and we're ready! The Memorial Cup presented by Kia will coincide with the Halifax Mooseheads' 25th Anniversary and will feature sell-out crowds of more than 10,000 fans per game as teams from across the country as compete for Junior hockey's top prize.

"The 2019 Memorial Cup is certain to be a success both on and off the ice. Halifax has a proven history of producing large teams of volunteers who will be proud to welcome participants and visitors to our City. Today's Call for Volunteers is the beginning of our final preparations as we prepare to host the hockey world," said Mat Harris, Chair of the Host Organizing Committee.

Requirements of volunteers include working a minimum of 16 hours or 4 shifts as well as attending general orientation and training sessions. Applicants must be at least 16-years-old prior to December 31st, 2018 and may be required to consent and pass a Criminal Record/Volunteer Sector Check.

The need for volunteers is great, with more than 500 positions to be filled, as our City comes together to make the 2019 Memorial Cup "one to remember."
