The Saint John Sea Dogs were victorious 5-3 on Tuesday night at Harbour Station over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Saint John improves to 2-5-2-0 while the Screaming Eagles drop to 3-5-0-0.

Saint John opened with energy to start the game with good puck movement and speed trough the neutral zone. Ex-Sea Dog Ian Smallwood was called for hooking at 9:15 of the first and Saint John was able to capitalize. Robbie Burt circled near the blue line before dishing towards the net where Maxim Cajkovic was waiting to tap it in for his third of the year to put the Sea Dogs up 1-0. Alex D'Orio came ready to play making multiple saves in close to keep the Sea Dogs ahead including an incredible point blank glove save. Momentum shifted back for Saint John as William Villeneuve dangled around a defender in the Screaming Eagle zone and drifted a floater towards the net that Anthony Boucher managed to redirect past Mandolese to put the Dogs up 2-0. Tyler Higgins was called for a tripping minor with a minute left in the period but the Screaming Eagles weren't able to get the power play setup before time ran out. Shots in the period favored Saint John 9-8.

The game opened up for both teams in the second period with constant back and forth action. Yohan Plamondon broke free coming down the left side and sniped the top corner glove side on Mandolese to give Saint John a 3-0 lead. Mandolese was then replaced in net by William Grimard. The Screaming Eagles replied with a power play goal at 13:01 after Jeremie Poirier went off for hooking. Mitchell Balmas was able to get a puck through traffic that fooled Alex D'Orio to cut the lead to 3-1. Anthony Boucher added his second of the game after zipping over the blue line, sliding the puck between the legs of Ian Smallwood and finally wristing it top corner to put the Sea Dogs back up by three. Cape Breton cut the lead back to two when Antoine Crête-Belzile was able to keep it in at the blue line and complete a one timer to Brooklyn Kalmikov who snapped it five hole on D'Orio making it 4-2 Sea Dogs. Shots in the period were 18-12 Cape Breton.

Cape Breton was able to solve D'Orio to make it 4-3 when Ryan Francis crashed the net at 12:17 and the puck trickled in. The Sea Dogs setup on the power play late in the third after Egor Sokolov was called for high stick on Brendan Sibley deep in the Saint John zone. Josh Lawrence and Maxim Cajkovic had chances a plenty but Grimard kept Cape Breton in it. With under two minutes left Cape Breton pulled Grimard for the extra attacker but were quickly called for interference on Egor Sokolov. Cape Breton pulled Grimard again and Yohan Plamondon was able to capitalize on the empty cage for his second of the night giving the Sea Dogs the win, 5-3. Shots in the period were 13-7 Cape Breton.

Alex D'Orio was determined in net turning aside 36 saves. Grimard and Mandolese combined for 23 stops.
