Monterey Bay FC News Release
SEASIDE, Calif. - Monterey Bay F.C. forward Christian Volesky has been named the USL Championship's Player of the Week for Week 7 of the 2023 season, his second such honor in the past three weeks of the campaign. This recognition follows another multi-goal contribution performance in which Volesky scored the equalizing goal before recording the game-winning assist in Monterey Bay's 3-2 win over Indy Eleven at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana..
Volesky's goal in the 58th minute of the match was created with a long run down the center of the pitch by teammate Morey Doner. As Doner approached the 18-yard box, Volesky darted in on a perfectly-timed run to get on the end of the ball and smash it inside the left post with his left foot. Then after an Indy turnover at midfield nearly five minutes later, Volesky positioned himself well into space to receive the ball before playing Nevello Yoseke into the box perfectly for the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute.
The Henderson, Nevada native has now contributed to seven of the Club's last 10 goals in all competitions over the past 17 days. In addition, Volesky connected on 11 of his 17 passes, won two duels, and recorded a clearance defensively.
