KEIZER, Ore. - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes are excited to celebrate the 20th season of baseball in Salem-Keizer by hosting a plethora of entertainment-filled games. Highlighted by Opening Night (June 17), a Patriotic Tribute (July 4) and a Cancer Awareness night (August 5) the Volcanoes will have a celebration all summer at Volcanoes Stadium.
Baseball in Oregon returns June 17 as the Volcanoes kick off the 20th season with Opening Day Ceremonies, which will be highlighted at the conclusion of the game with a fireworks show.
"We will be reenacting the Opening Day Ceremonies from 20 years ago which will include an eloquent speech and a ceremonial first pitch from those who were influential in bringing baseball to Salem-Keizer," says owner Jerry Walker. "So much has changed and fans will be amazed at the changes but will see the one constant over the years - baseball."
Every year the Volcanoes hold a Cancer Awareness night and weekend to honor and support those that have battled cancer. Cancer Awareness night highlights a loaded summer of events that include an appearance by Rally the Mascot and the San Diego Chicken.
Accompanying these fun-filled nights of baseball will be nine different firework nights. Every Friday home game at Volcanoes Stadium will finish with a spectacular firework show, including a firework show on Saturday August 6 and of course on Independence Day, July 4.
