Visalia, CA - The Visalia Rawhide set new season-highs in both hits and runs on Friday night, hammering the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes by a final score of 15-5 at Valley Strong Ballpark.
Tim Tawa had five hits and two RBIs, while Channy Ortiz had four hits and three runs batted in to lead Visalia's 18-hit attack.
Quakes' starter Robbie Peto (1-4) got the loss, but he wasn't the only Quake to struggle on the night, as he allowed four runs, three earned, over just 1.2 innings.
Visalia starter Kyle Backhus (2-0) was dominant, as he allowed just one run on two hits over five innings of work.
Jose Ramos had three of Rancho's six hits and finished with three RBIs. Ramos connected for a two-run homer in the eighth, his fourth of the year.
Rancho (54-45) will send Jimmy Lewis (0-2) to the mound on Saturday night, as he'll be opposed by Visalia's Ross Carver (0-2) at 6:00pm.
The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 31st, as they host the Lake Elsinore Storm as part of a seven-game series over six days. Tuesday will be Temblores Tuesday, presented by the Art Laboe Show Live. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
