Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Visalia, CA- The Visalia Rawhide won its fifth straight game on Thursday as the California League's top team handled the Inland Empire 66ers 15-3. The 15 runs matched a season worst for Inland Empire and the Rawhide's 19 hits was the most allowed by the 66ers this year.

The game started off well enough for the Sixers. Bo Way and Mike Fish each singled off Rawhide starter Blake Perry (8-4). Eric Aguilera then hammered a pitch over the batters' eye in dead center for a three-run homer to give Inland Empire (53-55, 18-20) a 3-0 lead. It was Aguilera's 13th homer and gives him 76 RBI. That was the last time that the 66ers would score.

The Rawhide got to IE starter Jordan Kipper (5-8) as the righty gave up seven earned runs over 2.2 innings of work. The Rawhide had nine extra-base hits in the drubbing including homers from Kevin Cron (21), Jamie Westbrook (11), Alex Glenn (6) and Domingo Leyba (1). Leyba had four hits in the game to go along with his dinger as he tagged two doubles and a single.

For Inland Empire, Way and Michael Strentz each had two hits. Visalia (67-42, 26-14) had only one inning on the night where they failed to reach base. The only frame that they did not have a runner on was the bottom of the eighth when outfielder Tyler Palmer came in and pitched a clean inning in his 66ers mound debut.

The series continues on Friday at 7:00 pm. It can be heard live at 66ers.com.
