Blaze Honor DeVry Student of the Month

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - This season, Minor League Baseball (MiLB) named DeVry University as the "Official Education and Career Development Partner of Minor League Baseball." This summer, MiLB and DeVry University are recognizing outstanding undergraduate and graduate students from the university who demonstrate citizenship, personal and academic leadership, and dedication to their fields of study as the "Student of the Month."
Manuel Gonzales from the DeVry University campus in Bakersfield, California, is one of 25 students nationwide to receive this honor. Gonzales will be honored Saturday, Aug. 8, at the game against the Modesto Nuts.
Gonzales is pursuing his associate degree in electronics & information sciences at the university's College of Engineering & Information Sciences. Considered a "model student,"Â Gonzales currently holds a 4.0 GPA and is passionate about his particular area of study. As a student worker on campus, he provides IT support to all students and is willing to take time outside of work and school to help them understand how to use different system applications. Gonzales truly enjoys coaching other students on how best to manage weekly homework assignments and discussion topics. In addition to helping others, he is continuing to find opportunities to build upon his skill set outside the classroom, including studying for the A+ Certification examination. In his free time, Manny enjoys building computers and testing networks at home to become more familiar with different systems and applications to excel in his field of study.
