Visalia Rawhide News Release

Thursday night the Oaks and San Jose Giants played game one of a three game set. The Oaks have lost nine straight games and looked to break it coming home to Recreation Park. The Oaks who were just swept by the Ports and were swept by the Giants last weekend looked to finally put and end to the slide. The Oaks sent out left-hander Mike Prochaska vs. righty Seung Song in game one, these to hooked up last week in an 11-1 Oaks loss.

Both pitchers got off to a terrific start retiring the first six batters they faced but Song struck out all six. In the bottom of third the Oaks would get a run without the benefit of a base hit, as Kris Dufner walked, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on an error by first baseman Pat Dobson. It remained 1-0 through six both pitchers were masterful. Prochaska had retired 18 of the first 19 hitter he faced, and had a no-hitter through six innings, while Song yielded two hits and had stuck out 12 batters through six innings of play.

After getting the first two batters out in the seventh Mike Prochaska allowed a double to Eddy Martinez-Esteve to end the no-hit bid at 6 2/3. Two would eventually score and the Giants lead now 2-1. The Giants add another in the eighth and two in the ninth and went on to win 6-1. Song sang to the tune of 13 strikeouts, while Prochaska took the loss after nearly no-hitting the San Jose.

The Oaks have now lost 10 straight games and look to snap the skid on Friday. As a special treat the Oaks will be wearing the Mudville Nine uniforms as they take on the Giants on Tobacco Control Project Mudville Nine Logo Balls Night. The Oaks will try to end the skid Friday in game two of this three game set. The Oaks send out righty Tony Peguero vs. right-hander Juan Serrato for the Giants in game two of this three game series.
