
Vipers Winning Streak Extends to Six with Victory over Austin

Edinburg, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (9-3), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, defeated the Austin Spurs (4-8) 120-93 on Monday night at Bert Ogden Arena.
The Vipers hit the ground running and had a 10-4 lead over the Spurs, but with 5:20 to go in the first the Spurs came back and took the lead away from the Vipers with a score of 11-10. However, the Vipers turned things back around and took back its lead. As the clock hit 2:32 Austin came back and took a 20-19 lead. Despite both teams' efforts to pull away with a game advantage, it would be a 24-24 draw at the end of the first.
With 11:07 to go in the second Louis King hit a three-pointer and gave the Vipers back the lead. RGV maintained the lead through the remainder of the quarter and sent the game into halftime with a 55-43 score.
In the third quarter the Vipers had a 66-55 advantage over the Spurs with 6:49 to go. RGV went on a hot streak and scored 10 points while only allowing the Spurs to score two points with 4:37 left to go. The Vipers continued to extend its lead and sent the game into the fourth with a score of 88-64.
During the fourth quarter RGV hit the gas pedal and went on to score 32 more points to close the game in a 120-93 victory.
Houston Rockets Two-Way player Darius Days paved the way for the Vipers with a double-double 24 points and 10 rebounds. Cassius Stanley and Mustapha Heron came off the bench to put up 18 and 16 points, respectively. Louis King finished the night with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. Trhae Mitchell obtained a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Houston Rockets Two-Way player Trevor Hudgins finished the night with 11 points, five rebounds and six assists.
Austin was led by Jalen Adaway with 17 points. Jordan Goldwire ended the night with 13 points and seven rebounds. San Antonio Spurs Two-Way player Dominick Barlow reached 12 points. Chaundee Brown Jr. put up 11 points. Both Tommy Kuhse and Justin Kier finished with 10 points each.
