
Vipers Win First Road Game 123-101 at Greensboro

GREENSBORO, North Carolina - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2-0) defeated the Greensboro Swarm (0-3) 123-101 on the road on Wednesday night. Trevelin Queen scored a game-high of 26 points.
RGV led the first quarter 27-24 after trailing by five points to tip off the matchup. Mfiondu Kabengele led the squad with eight points and two rebounds. Houston Rockets two-way player Daishen Nix distributed four assists for the frame.
The Vipers headed into the half continuing to lead 64-55 over Greensboro. RGV had a 14-point lead over the Swarm during the second period with 3:43 left of on the clock. Queen hit double figures with 12 points while Marcus Foster (14 points) and Christian Vital (12 points) from off the bench scored in double digits. Greensboro had two starters score in double figures as well: Xavier Sneed (14 points) and Jalen Crutcher (12 points).
The third frame continued to be led by the Vipers 92-86. Queen tallied 18 points and Marcus Foster totaled 17 from off the bench. Arnoldas Kulboka with a game-high of 19 points. RGV had the biggest lead over Greensboro with 23 points with 48.5 left in the fourth.
Four of the Vipers starters scored in double figures; Anthony Lamb (15pts), Kabengele (20pts), Queen (26pts) and Rockets two-way player Garrison Mathews (11pts). Both Nix (8 REB, 9 AST) and Kabengele (20 PTS, 9 REB) fell short for their double-double stat line tonight.
From off the bench, Foster totaled 20 points (50.0% from 3PT) while Vital totaled 12 along with five rebounds and three assists. RGV shot 48.2% from the field and outrebounded Greensboro 44-31.
The Swarm was led by Kulboka with 20 points, five rebounds. Both Sneed and Crutcher scored 17 points each, Crutcher distributing seven assists. Despite the loss, Greensboro shot 47.9% from the field and 51.4% from beyond the arc.
