
Swarm Drop First of Two-Game Set to Vipers

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, was defeated by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets affiliate) 123-101 on Wednesday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The Swarm slide to 0-3 on the season while the Vipers improve to 2-0.
Hornets two-way player Arnoldas Kulboka recorded his second 20-point game of the season after scoring a team-high 20 (6-12 FG, 5-8 3FG) to go with five rebounds in 29 minutes. Both Jalen Crutcher and Xavier Sneed both scored 17 points, which was also a season-high for the duo. Crutcher also had seven assists, bringing his season total to 26, which leads the league. Sneed was effective from deep, hitting on all five of his 3-pointers while also securing six rebounds and two assists.
The Vipers secured a double-digit lead in the third quarter and despite a few Swarm challenges, would maintain the lead until the final buzzer. Rio Grande Valley was particularly effective in the paint, outscoring the Swarm 50-26 in the area. The visitors had three players score 20-or-more points in Trevelin Queen (26 points, four assists), Mfiondu Kabengele (20 points, nine rebounds) and Marcus Foster (20 points).
For Greensboro, Cameron McGriff had a strong night off the bench in 31 minutes. The former Oklahoma State standout added 14 points (6-11 FG) with five rebounds and three assists. LiAngelo Ball was 3-for-6 from the field, including two 3-pointers, for eight points in 14 minutes.
Other notable efforts for Rio Grande Valley saw Christian Vital score 12 points to go with five rebounds and Garrison Matthews scoring 11 points.
The two teams square off again on Saturday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Fieldhouse.
