
Vipers Taste Third Straight Defeat

For the second time this year the Calgary Vipers have lost three in a row as they were thumped 14-4 by the Tucson Toros at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Arizona. The Vipers gave up ten runs in the first three innings and never recovered. With the loss Calgary sits at 11-6 in the second half and 37-19 overall. Both totals lead the North Division and entire Golden Baseball League respectively.
Erik Dessau (6-3) took his second straight loss after giving up eight runs in an inning and two-thirds. Larenzo Barcelo (6-5) recorded the victory in pitching seven innings and allowing three runs.
The Snakes try and avoid the sweep on Thursday July 30th at 8:00 PM MDT. Calgary will send Reggie Rivard (3-3) to the mound for the two series finale.
Calgary returns home to Foothills Stadium on Tuesday August 4th at 7:05 PM MDT, Wednesday August 5th at 5:05 PM MDT for a double-header and Thursday August 6th at 7:05 PM MDT against the Tucson Toros for a four-games-in-three-days series. On Thursday it will be the final Dog Days of Summer with dog toys handed out at the front gate while it will also be Grey Eagle Casino night at the park with even more free giveaways.
On Friday August 7th at 7:00 PM MDT the Vipers are hosting their 1st annual Coaches Clinic. If you are a baseball coach this is your chance to be instructed by former major league players; Morgan Burkhart, Boots Day, and Vipers pitching coach Evan Greusel. On Saturday August 8th and Sunday August 9th at 10:00 AM MDT the Vipers are holding their 1st annual kids camp at Foothills Stadium for ages 9-16. Vipers' players will be on the field to demonstrate and teach hitting, throwing, and fielding techniques. Interested kids can sign up at www.calgaryvipers.com.
