Vipers, Pepper's And Lone Star National Bank To Hold Clothing Drive Monday

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Pepper's at Uptown and Lone Star National Bank announced today they will be holding a clothing drive on Monday from 5-to-7:00 p.m. in their joint parking lot at Uptown Plaza (4500 N. 10th St. in McAllen) to benefit UNICEF's Haiti Relief Fund.
The first 100 donors will receive bags with coupons from the Vipers and Pepper's. Coupons will include buy one get one free on Vipers tickets, 10% off at the Vipers Pro-Shop and 10% off at Pepper's and a free dessert with the purchase of a meal at Pepper's. The bags will also include Red Cross cookies created by Norma's Specialty Cakes, courtesy of Pepper's.
"Following the tremendous success of yesterday's shoe drive at Foot Solutions, we are once again reaching out to the communities of the Rio Grande Valley to ask for their support in helping those in need in Haiti," Vipers President Brian Michael Cooper said.
The event is part of the 2010 NBA D-League Cares Week of Service. NBA D-League teams are hosting a variety of hands-on service events through Jan. 24 in a collaborative effort to give back to children, families, and the community and to increase fan awareness about the importance of service.s
The NBA D-League Cares Week of Service tipped off on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and aligns with President Obama's recent launch of the United We Serve initiative (www.serve.gov). United We Serve seeks to expand the impact of volunteer work in existing organizations and encourage individuals to make a difference in their communities.
