Armor Get Fourth Win In A Row At Home

SPRINGFIELD, MA Jan. 21, 2010 - The Springfield Armor beat the Maine Red Claws on Thursday night for the third straight time at the MassMutual Center, 109-100 in front of 2,182 fans. Morris Almond again led the Armor in scoring, taking just 11 shots to get his 29 points.
The home team came out of the gates sharing the ball well as each Armor starter scored within the first seven minutes of the game. Both teams shot well from the field in the first half, the Armor at 55% and Maine at 50%. Armor point guard Abdulai Jalloh scored 15 points in the first half, including a half-court pick-pocket of former Armor guard Chris Lowe followed by a fast-break dunk. Jalloh finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals in his first start for Springfield.
Red Claws forward J.R. Giddens, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, scored the first seven points of the second half for Maine after being held to just three in the first half. The Armor were able to stay close until a 9-1 run put Springfield up seven late in the third quarter. Giddens finished with 23 points and 6 assists.
TJ Cummings came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring Springfield's first six points of the quarter and holding the Red Claws at bay. Cummings finished with 18 points. The Red Claws were never able to trim the Springfield lead to less than seven and the Armor won their fourth straight game at home.
