Vipers Obtain Veteran Outfielder

The Calgary Vipers Professional Baseball Club have acquired outfielder Lino Garcia from the Yuma Scorpions in the North American League. Playing in his 11th professional season the 27-year-old started the season with the Lake County Fielders of the N.A.L. before signing with Yuma as a free agent. The 6'3" 210 pounder spent five seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and another two in the Colorado Rockies reaching as high as "AAA". Born in Venezuela but now residing in California he has also spent four years in the Golden Baseball League where last year he hit .357 and was an All-Star in the league for a second straight year with the Tucson Toros.

Later tonight, Thursday July 21st, the Vipers will play the back-half of a double-header with the Edmonton Capitals. The Vipers conclude a series in Calgary at Foothills Stadium against the Edmonton Capitals on Friday July 22nd at 6:30.

The Calgary Vipers will be hosting three Women's Pro Fastpitch games between the USAA Pride and the Tennessee Diamonds August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 6:30 at Foothills Stadium. Tickets are $16 for the Lower Bowl and $12 for the Upper Bowl. Three game packages are also available for $45 and $33. In addition there will be two skill clinics August 2nd and 4th from 10am - 12pm. Cost is $99 for a Clinic and Lunch or $120 for the Clinic, Lunch and two Lower Bowl tickets. There will also be a Lunch Banquet August 3rd including an autograph session with both teams and a lower bowl ticket to the August 3rd game for $49.95 with keynote speaker Cheri Kempf, the Commissioner of the NPF and an ESPN analyst.
