
Vipers Improve to 4-0 in Win over Capitanes

EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (4-0) improve to 4-0 in a 112-104 final score against Mexico City Capitanes (2-5). The last time the Vipers tipped off the season 4-0 was in 2013-14 where RGV went on a 9-0 winning streak.
The first quarter of the matchup was led by the Capitanes 35-30 with both Trevelin Queen and Jabari Narcis posting 12 points each for their team.
To go into the half, the Vipers came back to lead 62-54. Three RGV players went into the break in double digits; Queen (12 pts.), Houston Rockets assignee Usman Garuba (12 pts.) and Christian Vital (12 pts.) from off the bench. Queen nearly hit a double-double with eight rebounds.
The Vipers did not let down as they continued to lead the game over the Capitanes, ending the third frame 85-73. Queen scored 21 points at this point and Anthony Lamb added 14 points.
All five starters for RGV scored in double digits, led by Queen with 28 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. The 28 points marked Queen's fourth consecutive game scoring 20+ points in a game.
Lamb tallied 21 points, four rebounds, seven assists, two steals and three blocks. Rockets two-way player fell short on his double-double as he scored 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists and five steals. From off the bench, Vital recorded 21 points for the night.
The game was led by Alfonzo McKinnie with 32 points, adding six defensive boards and five assists. Three other starters for the Capitanes hit double figures and Matt Mooney tallied a double-double with 12 points, 10 assists while adding eight steals to end the night. Rigoberto Mendoza came off the bench to contribute 15 points, three rebounds and three assists.
