
Vipers Grasp Victory over Warriors

EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (6-3) finished a two game home series against the Santa Cruz Warriors (4-6) on Thursday night with a 126-111 win.
RGV was quick to take the lead in the first quarter but the Warriors were just getting started. With 4:34 remaining in the quarter Santa Cruz tied the game 17-17. From there on Santa Cruz kept the momentum going and led the quarter 37-30.
The second quarter was a fight for the lead as RGV outscored their opponent 36-16. Santa Cruz had the lead of the quarter for the first few minutes, but the Vipers would go on an 8-0 run to tie the quarter 45-45. The Vipers pulled away with the lead and sent the game into halftime with a score of 66-53.
In the third quarter RGV once again outscored their opponent 38-30. The Vipers pulled away with a 104-83 lead over the Warriors. Santa Cruz fired back in the fourth quarter as they outscored their opponent 28-22 but that was not enough for the Vipers to come out with a 126-111 victory.
Houston Rockets Two-Way players Trevelin Queen and Daishen Nix paved the way for the Vipers. Queen finished the night with 30 points while Nix reached a double-double with 24 points and 13 assists. Marcus Foster contributed 18 points to the team. Mfiondu Kabengele made his return to the court and posted 12 points and seven rebounds. Christian Vital also scored 12 points for the night. Trhae Mitchell reached a double-double with 10 points and a career high 11 rebounds. Anthony Lamb obtained 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Golden State Warriors Two-Way player Quinndary Weatherspoon led the way for the Warriors with 26 points and seven rebounds. LJ Figueroa posted a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Elijah Pemberton came off the Warriors bench to score 15 points. Both JaQuori McLaughlin and Ryan Taylor scored 10 points. Jacob Evans reached a new career high in rebounds with 14.
