
Vipers Finalize 2019-20 Coaching and Basketball Operations Staff

EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers, NBA G League Affiliate to the Houston Rockets, announced today the promotion of Devan Blair to assistant coach and the hiring of Sam Daghlas as assistant coach.
Antoine Broxsie was added to the basketball operations side as a player development and video coordinator. Thibaud Fraisse was hired as the head strength and conditioning coach and Jaime Gonzalez was promoted to equipment manager and travel coordinator.
Blair originally joined the Rockets staff in 2015 as an assistant video coordinator. In 2017, he was promoted to head video coordinator. As the video coordinator, Blair would break down all games for opponents the team faced. Blair would update and maintain all opponent special situation databases and assisted maintenance of the Rockets video playbook.
In addition, Blair would execute locker room and theater video boards, created practice plans, edited game day note cards, distributed scouted games and practices to coaching staff. He also assisted the player development coaches in on-court workouts for all the Rockets players.
Late in 2018, Blair was promoted to the Rockets offensive strategy team under head coach Mike D'Antoni and assistant coach Brett Gunning. As the offensive strategy and video coordinator, Blair collaborated with both D'Antoni and Gunning for all offensive scouts and ATO plays for the team.
Prior to the Rockets organization, Blair served as a basketball operations intern for the Indiana Pacers in 2014. In his role as the basketball operations intern, Blair assisted the scouting department, prepared draft boards, researched players and assisted the analytics department maintain their database.
From 2011-14, Blair was the men's and women's basketball manager at his alma mater, Indiana University Bloomington. As the team's basketball manager, he broke down opponent games, assisted in on-court workouts and did video scouting.
Daghlas was the head coach of the Jordanian Men's National Basketball Team from 2016-18. As his first stint with the national team, Jordan earned a bronze medal in the 2016 FIBA Asia Cup after defeating Iraq 94-72.
In 2014-15, Daghlas played with Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters in the Philippine Basketball Association where he played and started in 11 games averaging 10.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 33.2 minutes of play. Then, Daghlas went on to the Chinese Basketball Association where he played for Jiutai Northeast. He appeared and started in 32 games and averaged 10.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.0 steals. Daghlas shot an average of 43.5 percent from the field.
During the 2012-13 season, Daghlas appeared in 27, started in 25, games for Tianjin Ronggang (CBA) where he averaged 13.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 9.1 assists and 1.3 steals. Prior to Tianjin Ronggang, Daghlas first started in the CBA with Jiutai Northeast in 2011-12 where he appeared in 30 games, started in 29, averaging 17.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists and shot 49.4 percent from the field.
Having played internationally since 2003, Daghlas started his professional basketball career in the Jordanian Basketball League with the Fastlink Sports Club winning the league's championship in 2007. In addition, Daghlas is a two-time MVP of the Jordanian Basketball League for the 2003-04 and 2005-06 season. He also led his team to the championship, therefore, was voted best playmaker in the 2006 FIBA Asia Champions Cup.
In 2006, Daghlas was selected 4th in the 8th round of the NBA D-League Draft by the Idaho Stampede. Furthermore, Daghlas has been a member of the Jordanian National Basketball Team since 2003 where they finished first in the 2003 Jordan Basketball Championship and Al Sharqa International Basketball Championship.
Daghlas has earned a bronze medal in the 2009 Tianjin FIBA Asia Championship, silver in both the 2011 Wuhan FIBA Asia Championship and 2009 Taipei William Jones Cup. Daghlas' best performance with the Jordanian National Team was in the 2011 FIBA Asia Cup where he averaged 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.8 steals in eight games played.
Broxsie originally joined the Vipers' staff after serving one year as an assistant coach for the Memphis Hustle, NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, in the 2018-19 season. the Hustle ended their season with a 28-22 record, ranking 5th in the Western Conference and second in the Midwest Division.
With over 10 years of professional experience, mainly overseas, Broxsie most recently played for the Rochester RazorSharks in the Premier Basketball League where they won the championship in 2016.
Fraisse joined the Vipers organization mid-season during the 2018-19 campaign and was added to the Houston Rockets staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Prior to the Vipers and Rockets, Fraisse was a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley in 2018 where he assisted in coaching and programming for all sports, designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for women's soccer, tennis and basketball and designed basketball-specific conditioning for rehab and injured athletes.
In addition, Fraisse was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Newscastle Knights U16 and U18 from 2017-18 where he designed and implemented on-field speed, agility, aerobic, anaerobic conditioning and weight room strength programs for the development squads. Fraisse also served as a strength and conditioning intern for Innovate Sport Specific Conditioning from 2015-17 while also being a sport science intern for the Newcastle Jets Football Club from 2016-17.
Gonzalez initially joined the Vipers as a basketball operations intern for the 2018-19 season. As a basketball operations intern, Gonzalez assisted with video breakdown of both the Vipers and opponents faced. He assisted as well with travel coordination along with equipment management. Gonzalez also assisted with player development as he helped with on-court workouts.
Prior to the Vipers, Gonzalez was a player development coach at Carolina Basketball Academy. He also was a recruiting coordinator for Hoop Group Skills in 2018. In 2017-18, Gonzalez was a player development intern and post graduate assistant coach for Impact Basketball Academy. At Impact, Gonzalez assisted with on-court workouts, assisted with player recruitment, managed and operated practices and assisted students with their recruiting process. Gonzalez started his career as a head student manager at University of Texas-Pan American where he assisted with video exchange and breakdown, assisted with recruitment packages, assisted with team travel and equipment from 2013-17.
