
Vipers end Energy's win streak

DES MOINES, IA, Jan. 9, 2010 - The Iowa Energy's four game win streak came to an end Saturday as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers defeated Iowa 109-100. The Vipers, who own the best record in the Western Conference (12-4), outscored Iowa 33-21 in the 4th quarter to get the win.
Rio Grande Valley came out of the gate early as they jumped out to a 21-10 lead early in the game. The Vipers would extend the lead to 12 points at the half, 59-47. Iowa would battle back in the 3rd quarter to take a 79-76 heading into the final quarter.
The Vipers would turn the tide in the final stanza as forward Mike Harris, recently released by the Houston Rockets, scored 13 of his team high 27 points in the quarter to seal the win.
Iowa was led by guard Pat Carroll, who finished with 29 points including four 3-pointers. Point guard Curtis Stinson finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the Energy.
The same two teams will meet Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena. Tip time is 6pm.
