Vipers Bring Back Pitcher

The Calgary Vipers announce they have signed pitcher Mark Michael to a Golden Baseball League contract. The right-hander was in training camp with the Vipers after attending a free agent camp in Phoenix, Arizona and being drafted by the Snakes. The Lexington, Kentucky resident starts his eighth professional season with the first three coming in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and the last four in Independent baseball. The 6'3" 185 pounder is familiar with Calgary after playing against them in the Northern League with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in 2006 and 2007. Back in 2006 the University of Kentucky alum was named Northern League Championship Finals Most Valuable Player after throwing a two-hit shutout in the series clinching game four. In the last two seasons Michael was in the Northern League with the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

On Tuesday June 29th and Wednesday June 30th at 7:05 PM MDT the Vipers will host the Edmonton Capitals for a two-game series at Foothills Stadium. It will be Toonie Tuesday on the 29th and after the game on the 30th the Vipers will host a Canada Day Fireworks Spectacular.

The Calgary Vipers will be hosting 2 to 1 Clinics for Ages 8-14 on Monday July 12th, Tuesday July 13th, and Wednesday July 14th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM MDT. Each participant will be paired up with another child and one of the Vipers players for two hours of individual instruction and a live one hour game.
