Tucson, AZ - The Northern League defeated the Golden Baseball League 9-3 in the International Minor League All-Star Game at Hi Corbett Field last night. Centerfielder Jason James of the Rockford RiverHawks was named the game's MVP after going 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and 2 RBI for the Northern League.

The Northern League got off to a fast start, with the first 5 batters of the game all reaching on a hit. The NL would score 3 earned runs off of GBL starter Wes Etheridge, matching the number the right-hander has allowed in his first 43 innings in regular season play this season. The NL would add a run in the 2nd inning and again in the 3rd to take a 5-0 lead on third basemen Brad Corell's solo shot to left.

The Golden Baseball League fought back in the 4th when right fielder Timothy Rodriguez singled, stole second and was driven in by catcher Mike Rose. J.J. Sherrill drew a pinch hit walk in the 5th and would later come around to score on an RBI single to left by second basemen Jimmy Rohan to make the score 5-2.

Third basemen Ramos Amos hit a bases loaded triple down the rightfield line for the NL in the 7th to open up a 9-2 lead. Centerfielder Lino Garcia and Sherrill hit back-to-back doubles in the top of the 9th for the Golden League to cap the scoring at 9-3.

The box score was full at the end of the night, with a total of 45 players seeing action. Brian Rios played four innings at third base for the Seals and finished 0-for-2, while Josh Arhart came in to catch the latter half of the game, and finished 0-for-1 with a base on balls.
