Victoria Seals News Release

Victoria, BC - Closing out a four-game battle with the Chico Outlaws, the Victoria Seals returned to Royal Athletic park for game four on Tuesday afternoon. Turning to Jino Gonzalez (6-4) for the start, the home side matched up against Garrett Holleran (7-2) on the mound for the Outlaws.

Jumping on the board in the top of the second inning, Chico took a 2-0 advantage when Santo DeLeon powered a solo home run to left field before a single from Robby Alcombrack set up an RBI groundout off the bat of Anthony Manuel.

The Seals responded to grab a lead of their own in the bottom half of the third, cashing a lead-off single from Gonzalez on a sacrifice fly before Brian Rios drove in a pair with a base hit to post a 3-2 Victoria advantage.

Striking back with runs of their own, however, the Outlaws re-established their lead in the top of the fourth when DeLeon went deep for a second time, driving a two-run home run down the left field line to lift Chico back on top.

Putting the game away in the eighth, Chico rallied to post four runs in the frame against the Victoria bullpen. With Mark Samuelson and Alcombrack reaching on a walk and double, respectively, a wild pitch from Mike Koons along with a sacrifice fly courtesy of Manuel made it a 6-3 Outlaws lead.

Two batters later, after Joe Sergent entered the game for Victoria, Chico pinch-hitter John Urick promptly took the left-hander over the right field fence en route to an 8-3 Outlaws advantage. Unable to stake another dramatic ninth-inning rally, the Seals were forced to settle for a series split, taking an 8-3 loss in game four.

Jino Gonzalez took the loss after six innings on the mound, while Garrett Holleran improved to 8-2 for the Outlaws with the win. Two home runs and three RBI's for Santo DeLeon paced the Chico offense, while Terrence McClain, Brian Rios and Gonzalez all had a pair of hits in a losing effort for the Seals.
