Little Falls, NJ - Mike Vicaro put together a career night against the New Haven County Cutters, in an 8-2 win for the New Jersey Jackals. The win surged them to 18-6 in 2007.

Vicaro, who began the ballgame awkwardly, settled down after a tough first inning, not allowing a hit afterwards. He finished with 13 strikeouts, a career high, while retiring the final 16 batters he faces in succession. In eight innings, he allowed just the two earned runs plated in the first inning, two hits, and walked two.

Both starting pitchers had trouble finding their grooves in the first inning. The Jackals tagged New Haven's Tom Rispoli for four runs, including a two-out, two RBI single by Zack Smithlin. Rispoli walked three batters in the frame, including a bases loaded walk to Clyde Williams, in addition to hitting Joe Mihalics. But luckily for the Cutters, New Jersey starter Vicaro would struggle as well. He surrendered two runs. One run was pushed across on an error, and Orlando Encarnacion added an RBI on a sac fly. After one long inning of sloppy baseball, the Jackals led 4-2.

New Jersey would take advantage of Rispoli's lack of control in the fourth when Jud Thigpen uncorked a two-RBI double into right-center field. They'd added another pair of runs in the sixth via Clay Kuklick's two-RBI double. That would end the scoring for the night.

The loss went to Rispoli who set a Can-Am League record for walks with nine. He lasted just 5.1 innings while surrendering eight runs, seven of them earned
