
Grays Snap 10-game Losing Streak, 5-3

(NASHUA, NH, June 19, 2007) The Can-Am League's road team, the Grays, snapped a ten-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 5-3 triumph over the Nashua Pride before a crowd of 1,607 at Historic Holman Stadium.
The Grays (11-14) jumped out early with a pair of first inning runs off Nashua starter and loser Jason Paul (0-5). In the sixth, Grays third baseman Ben Tinius stroked a two-out, three-run double off Nashua reliever Tom Thornton who had taken over from Paul. Paul worked five and two-thirds innings he was charged with four runs, surrendering just three hits, walking four and striking out five. Jason Kosow finished up for the Pride by pitching a pair of perfect innings.
The Pride (14-10) scored a an unearned run in the fifth on a Richard Giannotti single which plated John Ramastella who reached on a two-base error by Tinius. Nashua added single runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Third baseman Chris Torres had two hits and an RBI to lead the Pride attack.
Grays starter Elliott Shaw (2-2) worked seven and a third innings, allowing four hits and a pair of runs, just one on them earned. He walked one and struck out six. Reliever Jerry Dunn allowed a ninth inning run on hits but was credited with his sixth save.
The Pride and the Grays resume their three-game series Wednesday night in Nashua. It will be Soccer Night with Pat Noonan of the New England Revolution on hand to throw out the first pitch and to sign autographs. 2-0 Hideki Nagasaka will pitch for the Pride with 2-1 Dustin Nielsen scheduled for the Grays in a battle of righthanders.
