North Shore 9, Atlantic City 1 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

The North Shore Spirit got a great outing from starting pitcher Chris Farley to improve its record to .500 at 12-12. Farley struck out six and allowed one run on five hits in a complete game effort to improve to a perfect 5-0 on the year. The Spirit offense pounded out 15 hits and nine runs in support of Farley, led by C Alex Trezza who was 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI. Six separate North Shore hitters recorded multi-hit games, including DH/1B Brad Rea, who was 2-for-3 with three RBI.

North Shore 3, Atlantic City 0 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

North Shore closed out a sweep of Atlantic City thanks to its second great outing of the day, this time from starting pitcher Ryan Bicondoa. Bicondoa tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out four to improve to 2-0 on the season, helping the Spirit move a game over .500. Atlantic City starter Monte Mansfield pitched well also, allowing three runs and striking out six through six innings of work, but had to take a hard-luck loss. Spirit 3B Mike Torres led the way offensively going 3-for-3 a run scored and an RBI.

Quebec 4, Brockton 1

The Quebec Capitales got a great outing from starting pitcher Michel Simard to improve to 16-9 on the year. Simard allowed just one unearned run and scattered six hits in a complete game effort that improved his record on the year to 4-1. The Capitales backed his effort with four runs on 12 hits, led by 2B Boomer Berry who was 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Brockton RF Tony Gonzalez was the only Brockton hitter to record more than one hit in the game. He was 2-for-4.

New Jersey 8, New Haven Co. 2

On a night when great pitching was easy to come by in the Can-Am League, New Jersey starting pitcher Michael Vicaro took great and made it a little better. Vicaro settled down after a tough first inning and did not allow a hit from there. He finished with 13 strikeouts, a career high, while retiring the final 16 batters he faced. He allowed two runs on two hits in eight innings of work to improve to 1-2 on the year. Jackals DH Sandy Madera went 3-for-5 in support of Vicaro with a pair of runs scored.

Grays 5, Nashua 3

Grays 3B Ben Tinius drove in three of the Grays' five runs to lead them to a two-run victory, improving their record to 11-14 this season. Tinius finished the game 1-for-3 with a double. Grays starting pitcher Elliott Shaw was able to work his way around six walks by striking out seven and allowing just four hits to improve to 2-2 on the year. He allowed one earned run through 7 1/3 innings. Closer Jerry Dunn allowed a run on two hits in the ninth inning, but was able to hang on and pick up his sixth save of the season.

Worcester 5, Sussex 5 (Top 8 - Suspended/Rain)

@ Augusta, NJ.

The game was suspended due to rain with the score tied 5-5 in the top of the 8th inning. It will resume tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by tomorrow's regularly scheduled game.
