BURLINGTON, VT --- The Aberdeen Ironbirds scored twice in both the fourth and sixth innings in a 5-1 New York-Penn League victory over Vermont on Wednesday night in the first of a six-game homestand for the Lake Monsters at historic Centennial Field.
Both starting pitchers, Vermont's Kyle Finnegan and Aberdeen's Jorge Rivera, went the first three innings without allowing a baserunner until the Ironbirds tagged Finnegan for three straight two-out hits in the top of the fourth to score a pair of runs. Trey Mancini got the rally started with a single to right before Conor Bierfeldt and Mike Yastzremski smacked back-to-back RBI doubles for the 2-0 lead.
