
Veleno Named to Team QMJHL for Cibc Canada/Russia Series

SAINT JOHN - Saint John Sea Dogs captain Joe Veleno has been named to Team QMJHL for the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series .
The QMJHL, in conjunction with the Canadian Hockey League, announced its 24-player roster today .
The 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series puts all-star teams from the QMJHL, Ontario Hockey League and Western Hockey League in two-game match-ups against a Russian junior team. The QMJHL games take place Tuesday, November 14th, at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown and Thursday, November 16th, at Moncton Coliseum in Moncton .
Veleno, 17, is participating in the series for the first time. The native of Kirkland, Quebec, has one goal and nine points in 11 games in his third season with the Sea Dogs. He played in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup the last two seasons, and captained Canada to a gold medal at the 2017 tournament in August. He also suited up for Canada Black at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
All games will be broadcast nationally on Sportsnet and TVA Sports.
