Velcro Wallet Giveaway this Saturday

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel look to get back to their winning ways this weekend with a home-and-home matchup against Cedar Rapids, including a velcro wallet giveaway for fans this Saturday night.

The Steel (22-12-2-1; 47 pts) hit the road to visit Cedar Rapids on Friday, Feb. 3 at ImOn Ice Arena before returning home on Saturday, Feb. 4 against the RoughRiders (17-12-3-2; 39 pts). The first 500 fans to arrive at Fox Valley Ice Arena Saturday night will receive a Steel velcro wallet. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT both nights.

In keeping with the wallet theme, Saturday night fans can enjoy money-related promotions such as The Price is Right, Deal or No Deal, and Money Drop.

The Steel have lost three in a row after dropping three road games this past weekend, a 4-1 loss against the Youngstown Phantoms Friday, a 6-2 loss against Youngstown Saturday, and a 5-4 overtime loss despite a fierce Steel comeback against USA Hockey NTDP (U17) Sunday.

This weekend will mark the third and fourth of six scheduled meetings in the regular season between Chicago and Cedar Rapids. The Steel hold an all-time record of 48-53-5-4, but Cedar Rapids has won both matchups this season, one in regulation and one in a shootout.

In their last meeting on Dec. 28, the Steel fell 7-2 to the RoughRiders to snap a seven-game Steel winning streak. Cedar Rapids took a 3-0 first period lead and never relented. Nick Moldenhauer and Nolan Joyce tallied the two Steel goals, and Macklin Celebrini registered two assists in the first game for Chicago following the holiday break.

Cedar Rapids is led offensively by Ryan Walsh with 44 points (13G, 31A). Walsh, a six-foot-tall, 180 lbs. Cornell University commit, is third in the league for points behind Steel forwards Jack Harvey and rookie Macklin Celebrini who are tied for first with 45 points.

Walsh is on an impressive nine-game point streak with 17 points (3G, 14A). In his last 14 games played, Walsh has 23 points (5G, 18A). This past Saturday against Muskegon, Walsh recorded 5 points (2G, 3A).

Next weekend, the Steel are back on the road for a pair of games. Friday, Feb. 10 the Steel are set to battle the Omaha Lancers for the first and only time this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT. The following day, Chicago travels to Des Moines to faceoff against the Buccaneers for the second time this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT.

The Steel will return home for a three-game holiday weekend Feb. 17 through Feb. 19.

On Friday, Feb. 17, the Steel will host a Slumberland Slumber Party as they battle the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at 7:05 p.m. CT.

Saturday, Feb. 18 is Chicago Blackhawks Night featuring appearances from Stanley Cup Champion Brian Campbell and Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk. The Steel host USA Hockey NTDP (U17) at 7:05 p.m CT.

Chicago Steel hockey is presented by River Front Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram.

The Steel cap off the holiday weekend on Sunday, Feb. 19 with a 3:05 p.m CT. puck drop against USA for a Steel Card Set Giveaway (part 1 of 2) presented by Top Shelf Sports Cards. Feb. 19 also marks a Slumberland Family Pack Game with a special deal for families, and after the game, fans can participate in Full Team Post-Game Autographs.
