
Vargas allows no hits through six in Zephyrs win

The New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the visiting Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday 11-1, sweeping the four-game series.
Zephyrs starting pitcher Jason Vargas (4-3) got the win, giving up only one run on three hits in 6.2 innings. The hits and the run came in his final inning, as he threw a no-hitter through 6.1 innings, striking out seven batters.
The Z's were led offensively by designated hitter Ricky Ledee, who went 3-5 with five RBI and two runs scored, including a three-run homer in the sixth inning.
Catcher Sandy Alomar, Jr. went 2-4 with three RBI, all on a three-run bomb that was part of an eight-run fourth inning.
Bees starting pitcher Jonathan Rouwenhorst (5-2) records a loss after giving up seven runs on 11 hits in only 3.2 innings.
After a league-wide off day on Wednesday, the Zephyrs go on the road for two series against the Iowa Cubs and Round Rock Express before returning home to face the Oklahoma RedHawks on June 15th.
