Sidewinders To Host Division Rivals In Exciting Homestand

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Sidewinders will host the division rival Sacramento Rivercats and Las Vegas 51s in a jam-packed 7-game homestand featuring fireworks, giveaways, Military Appreciation and Sleepover Night as well as numerous promotions from June 7th-13th at Tucson Electric Park.

The Sidewinders will take on first place Sacramento at home for the first time this season by opening up the series with Thirsty Thursday on June 7th. Tucson enters today's action with a 31-26 record, good for second place the PCL Pacific Southern Division, just a game and a half behind the RiverCats.

The Sidewinders will show their support and honor the United States Armed Forces on Friday, June 8th during the team's annual Military Appreciation Night. Military members in uniform or with valid military identification will receive free admission to the 7:00 pm contest along with five friends or family members. Additional tickets are available granting admission for six military members or families are also available at all local military bases, including Ft. Huachuca. The first pitch will be thrown by 9-year old Chris Harper of a Ft Huachuca, accompanied by his father Colonel James Harper who is being deployed this week for a year-long mission to Baghdad where he will be training Iraqi Ministry of Defense officials. The Ft. Huachuca 36th Army Band will perform the National Anthem followed by a flyover by four F-16's. A special patriot Fireworks Spectular will immediately follow the game.

Also on Friday fans will have the rare opportunity to spend the night at a professional ballpark for free during the Sidewinders Sleepover. Fans young and old are invited to bring sleeping bags and tents to camp in the Tucson Electric Park outfield. Attendees are encouraged to bring gloves and balls to play catch on the field just like the professional players do! There will also be an optional midnight pizza party for all attendees, and the concession stand will be open until midnight. No campfires!

The first 2,000 fans with paid admission on Saturday, June 9th will receive a Championship Hat commemorating the Sidewinders amazing 2006 Triple-A and PCL Championship season.

Tucson will wrap up the homestand against Las Vegas with Margarita Monday, Taco Tuesday and Free Money Wednesday. The 3-game series will mark the return of former Sidewinders Hitting Coach Lorenzo Bundy who is now at the helm of the 51s.
