Beavers Walk Off With 3-2 Win
June 5, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Portland Beavers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Brian Myrow lined an RBI single to right center field in the bottom of the ninth to score Vincent Sinisi with the winning run and help the Portland Beavers snap a five-game skid with a 3-2 victory over the Omaha Royals Monday night at PGE Park.
Sinisi, who had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, reached on a two-out single and moved to third when first baseman Craig Brazell misplayed a infield popup by Craig Stansberry.
Reliever Neal Musser (2-1) was the recipient of the loss as the result of the unearned run.
Leo Rosales (1-1) worked the scoreless top of the ninth to notch his first Triple-A victory behind a strong pitching effort from Clay Hensley and Royce Ring.
Matt Tupman was 2-for-3 with a two-run double in the second and a walk for the Royals (30-28).
The Beavers tied the game in the seventh when Josh Howard walked, stole second and scored on an RBI single from Stansberry.
After Tupman's double gave the Royals a 2-0 lead, the Beavers thwarted a third run from being scored in the inning when Sinisi, playing right field, gunned down Tupman at the plate after a single by Richard Lewis.
In the bottom of the second, Ray Chang reached on a two-out double and Mike Sansoe followed with a double of his own to cut Omaha's lead in half.
Hensley, who was making his first start with Portland since being optioned on Friday, gave up a pair of runs in the second but was otherwise effective in seven innings of work.
The series wraps up Tuesday at PGE Park in a 12:05 p.m. start.
NOTES: After his second-inning double, Chang left the game with a sprained right ankle ... before the game, the Beavers placed infielder Brett Dowdy and Adam Shabala on the disabled list. Additionally, the team activated Hensley and infielder Oscar Robles, both optioned from San Diego on Friday ... Omaha starter Jason Shiell, who gave up a run in five innings, pitched for Portland in 2002 ... the Beavers have allowed just one home run over the last 69 innings.
