
Vancouver Whitecaps FC Re-Sign Uruguayan Nicolás Mezquida

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that the club has re-signed attacking midfielder Nicolás Mezquida. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
"We are excited to have Nicolás returning for his second season with the club," said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. "Nicolás is a very talented player, a fantastic teammate who brings a positive frame of mind, and he works exceptionally hard each and every day. We are confident Nicolás will excel and play an important part for us in 2015."

Played with Uruguayan Primera División clubs CA Fénix and CA Peñarol
Loan spell in 2011 with Norwegian clubs SK Brann and Lillestrøm SK
Mezquida, 22, arrived in Vancouver last February having spent most of his career in Uruguay with two loan spells in Norway. The 5-foot-7, 150-pound midfielder scored two goals and started four of 14 MLS regular season appearances. The native of Paysandú, Uruguay, also started both Amway Canadian Championship matches and made a substitute appearance in the Knockout Round playoff match against FC Dallas.
