Boise Hawks News Release

The Vancouver Canadians (14-13) beat the Boise Hawks (15-12) by a final score of 7-1. The Canadians got 16 hits on their way to a victory and have tied the series at one-a-piece.

Vancouver struck first in the 2nd inning. Nick Bush struck out the first two batters he faced, just like he did in the 1st inning, but it was a triple for Hunter Steinmetz followed by an RBI single for Otto Lopez. Vancouver took the early 1-0 advantage.

Boise got their first run of the game in the 3rd inning. After Kyle Datres put a double into the left-centerfield gap, Vancouver starter Elio Silva threw a wild pitch and Datres took off for third. Silva was able to retire the next two batters, but it was Matt Hearn with another two out hit in 2018. Datres scored on the single and the Hawks were tied at one with Vancouver.

Matt Hearn this season is hitting .818 (9-11) with runners-in-scoring-position and two outs now.

Vancouver came back and added more runs in the 4th. With runners on first and third, Otto Lopez singled to make it 2-1 Canadians. Tanner Kirwer bunted for a hit with Steinmetz on third base and it made Vancouver's lead 3-1.

The Canadians continued to hit the ball around. In the 5th, after singles for Griffin Conine and Chris Bec, Bec took off for second looking to get caught in the rundown and Boise catcher, Willie Maciver, threw the baseball into center field scoring Conine from 3rd to make it 4-1 Canadians.

Vancouver kept adding on. It was in the 6th inning after a two-out triple for Tanner Kirwer, Yorman Rodriguez singled through the right side to make it 5-1 Vancouver.

Otto Porter hit a solo home run in the 8th extending the lead to 6-1 for Vancouver, and the visitors added one more in the 9th on a sacrifice fly for Vincent Capra giving the Canadians a 7-1 advantage. Boise went three-up, three-down in the 9th to fall to 15-12 on the season.

Nick Bush ends up the losing pitcher for Boise, going four innings allowing three earned runs. The Hawks threw Bobby Johnson for two innings, Peyton Gray for one, and Joel Condreay for one and each gave up one earned run.

The Hawks return tomorrow on a Postgame Fireworks Night, Idaho Beef Council Night and Story Time presented by Ada County Libraries. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Get your tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
