C's Bounce Back in Boise; Top Hawks 7-1

(Memorial Stadium - Boise, ID) - Seven different Canadians recorded multi-hit games as the offense scored in six of their nine innings to bounce back from a heart-wrenching loss on Wednesday to power past the Boise Hawks 7-1 on Thursday out at Memorial Stadium.

The Canadians (14-13) got 3-for-5 nights from both RF Griffin Conine (.303) and 2B/SS Otto Lopez with middle infielder hitting his first home run of the season in the top of the 8th inning off of Boise reliever RHP Peyton Gray that helped the C's build a 6-1 lead. Vancouver would tack on a run in the top of the 9th inning when SS Vinny Capra hit a sac fly to right field scoring 1B Sterling Guzman to comeplete the seven-run response to Wednesday night.

LF Tanner Kirwer (2-for-5), DH Yorman Rodriguez (2-for-5), 1B Sterling Guzman (2-for-5), C Chris Bec (2-for-4) and CF Hunter Steinmetz (2-for-4) also had multi-hit nights for the Canadians who matched a season-high with 16 hits.

On the mound, Canadians starter LHP Elio Silva went four strong innings allowing a lone run in the bottom of the 3rd inning when LF Matt Hearn hit a seeing eye single back up the middle with 3B Kyle Datres at third base which at the time evened the game at 1-1. Vancouver reliever LHP Marcus Reyes (1-1) grabbed the win pitching the next four innings allowing just two base hits without allowing a run to score while striking out two for his first win in a Canadians uniform. RHP Cobi Johnson came in to pitch the bottom of the 9th and retired the Hawks in order to make the final 7-1 Vancouver.

With the win, Vancouver (14-13) maintains at least a share of top spot in the North Division as they started the day tied with both Everett and Tri-City were taking on Salem-Keizer and Hillsboro respectively.

The Canadians will send RHP Sean Wymer (1-1, 3.72) to the mound in Game 3 of this five-game series set for Friday, July 13th at 6:15pm pacific. Wymer is coming off a three-inning appearance vs. Spokane where he allowed just one hit, no runs and struck out two. The Hawks will counter with LHP Miguel Ausua (0-1, 8.31) who on July 7th allowed eight hits, four earned runs all in the top of the 2nd inning at Salem-Keizer.
