Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, KS (September 7, 2015) - The Wichita Wingnuts enjoyed an eventful week to close out the 2015 regular season. They clinched their fifth straight division title, set a number of team offensive records, and had a variety of players post impressive numbers. One of those individuals was center fielder Nick Van Stratten. His performance earned him recognition as the American Association Player of the Week.

Van Stratten had at least one hit in all six games during the week, including multiple hits in five of them. In a four-game series with Amarillo at the outset he went 9-17, whacked a pair of home runs, tallied four RBI, and scored five runs. He also worked a pair of walks.

In the first game of the final regular season series against Grand Prairie, the 30-year old exploded for six RBI. Van Stratten was a crucial part of the Wingnuts winning by their largest margin in team history. He went 3-4 with a triple, hit by pitch, walk, and three runs scored aside from the teammates he drove in.

The native of Kansas City, Missouri combined to hit .560 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, 10 RBI, and nine runs scored. He is the second member of the Wingnuts to win a weekly award from the league.
