Tri-City ValleyCats News Release
TROY-The Tri-City ValleyCats are back on their winning ways after a 6-1 win over the Lowell Spinners. The ValleyCats scored all of their runs early and all of the runs came thanks to home runs.
The Spinners jumped out to the early lead off of Tri-City starter Evan Englebrook. Robert Evans jumped on a hanging breaking ball by Englebrook and put a ball over the right field wall to give Lowell the 1-0 lead.
The ValleyCats would come back in a big way in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Jonny Ash got on with a base hit. Then he went to second with a Mario Garza bloop base hit. When Lou Santangelo walked, the bases were loaded for Kevin Vital. He hit a towering grand slam home run over the right fall. Before the ValleyCats could realize they were down by one, the score was 4-1 in favor of Tri-City.
In the second inning, The ValleyCats tacked on two more runs. Drew Sutton walked and then came around to score when Jonny Ash smacked a home run over the right-field wall for his first professional home run. The ValleyCats had a 6-1 lead and it would stay that way for the home team.
Evan Englebrook was relieved in the fifth inning after yielding a couple of hits and a walk to load the bases. Bo Edmiston came in and retired the next three hitters to get the ValleyCats out of their biggest jam of the game.
He would go on to pitch the rest of the game. In five scoreless innings, Edmiston gave up just two hits and walked none, while striking out five.
The series finishes out tomorrow night at 6:00. Raymar Diaz gets the start for the ValleyCats. The game can be heard in the Capital Region on AM 1160 WABY Mechanicville and AM 900 WUAM Saratoga Springs as well as on the internet at sportsjuice.com.
