ValleyCats Add Two Right-Handers to the Pitching Mix

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats announced their latest Building the Roster Update with Curtis Lumber on Tuesday, and have signed RHP Jose Felix and RHP Greg Blackman.

Felix, the youngest member of the Tri-City roster, is transitioning from a first baseman/catcher to a pitcher. The 21-year-old batted .250 across 21 games in the Texas Rangers system from 2021-22, and reached as high as Triple-A Round Rock in his first professional season, even tossing one third of an inning in relief. He also had a brief stint with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League last year. The Bonao, Dominican Republic native went to Gregorio Luperon High School for Science and Mathematics in Manhattan, and currently resides in New York City.

Blackman made his professional debut last season for the Great Falls Voyagers of the Pioneer Baseball League. The 24-year-old made 19 appearances (nine starts), and worked 63.2 innings. The La Grande, OR product followed in his father's footsteps by attending Lewis-Clark State College and being on their baseball team. The best year for Blackman came in 2023, leading the Warriors with 16 appearances and a miniscule 1.63 ERA. His performance netted him All-Cascade Conference and NAIA All-Tournament Team honors. Blackman's 67 appearances and 12 saves were tied for second in program history upon graduation.
