BROCKTON, MA - The New England Knockouts have signed right-handed pitchers Ty Collins and James Marinan to Frontier League contracts. Both carry pro-level experience entering their first season in the Frontier League.

Collins, just 23 years old, spent the last three years of his career in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He was drafted by Philadelphia in the 16th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. In 23 appearances playing for the Florida Complex League, Collins produced a 6.21 ERA with 30 strikeouts. In 2023, he also held opposing batters to an impressive .211 average.

The 6-3 right-hander hails from Los Angeles, California. He attended St. John Bosco High School, as well as Glendale Community College. Collins played baseball at both schools, competing in multiple positions. He pitched, played the outfield, and made several appearances at shortstop.

Marinan, now 25, joins the Knockouts after a long stint with the Cincinnati Reds organization. The 6-5, 239-pound pitcher was originally a 4th round pick by the Dodgers. He played two seasons for the Dodgers (2017 & 2018) in the AZL, throwing for a 1.21 ERA in nearly 28 innings. In between organizations, Marinan threw one season for the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League.

From 2019-2022, Marinan jumped around several teams for the Reds, most prominently with the Dayton Dragons (High-A). He holds a 4-3 record at the High-A level, including 72 strikeouts and a 9.9 K/9. Across his entire career, Marinan has thrown over 268 innings, including 53 starts. He originally hails from Boynton Beach, Florida.

The Knockouts are set to open their inaugural season on Friday, May 10th against the Ottawa Titans. Tickets for opening day can be purchased at https://tickets.knockoutsbaseball.com.
