
Utah's Smith gets first AHL shutout against Ducks

West Valley, UT -- Mike Smith stopped 31 shots for his first career AHL shutout and helped the Utah Grizzlies beat the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, 2-0, Sunday at the E Center.
Smith was also in net Saturday when Utah downed Cincinnati 7-1. He stopped 11 shots in the first period, nine in the second period and 11 more in the third en route to his fourth straight win.
Jarrod Skalde and Mike Sgroi scored goals in the second period for Utah, which won its third game in a row and improved to 5-2-0-0 in its last seven.
The loss extended Cincinnati's losing streak to five games, and the Ducks were shut out for the fourth time this season.
The Ducks have scored just 17 goals in their last 11 games, including eight goals in their last seven road contests. They are four games below .500 (9-13-3-0) for the first time this season.
Ilya Bryzgalov finished with 31 saves. Cincinnati has scored just 11 goals in his 10 losses.
The Ducks next game is December 12 when they face San Antonio at 7:35 p.m. at Cincinnati Gardens.
