Roadrunners Record First Shutout in Franchise History

HAMILTON, ON - Stephen Valiquette made 20 saves to record the first shutout in Toronto Roadrunners history Sunday afternoon as Toronto defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-0 at Copps Coliseum. The Roadrunners record now stands at 8-12-3-2.

After a scoreless first period, the Roadrunners got on the board in the second period, when Tony Salmelainen scored his fourth of the year at 8:18 with the Roadrunners on the power play.

The Roadrunners added an insurance marker when Jani Rita scored his seventh goal of the season at 12:50 of the third period. Dan Tessier, Jamie Wright, Chad Hinz, and Nate DiCasmirro earned assists for the Roadrunners.

In goal, Roadrunners goaltender Stephen Valiquette earned his third win of the season. Bulldogs starter Eric Fichaud made 25 saves and suffered his seventh loss of the season.

On the power play, the Roadrunners were 1 for 7, while the Bulldogs were 0 for 6.

The Toronto Roadrunners return to action this Thursday, December 11th, as they host the Chicago Wolves for the first time. Game time is 7:00 PM.
