
Toivonen's shutout moves Bruins into first place tie

The Providence Bruins moved into a tie for first place in the Atlantic Division following Sunday afternoon's 3-0 win over the Lowell Lock Monsters. The win extended the team's unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1-0), as the Bruins played four games in five nights for the second consecutive week. The Bruins are 13-8-5-0 (31 points) on the season, tying them with the Harford Wolf Pack for the division lead.
Bruin defenseman Zdenek Kutlak, assigned to Providence on Sunday by the Boston Bruins for conditioning purposes, tallied the game-winning goal at 3:42 of the third period. Right wing Brendan Walsh added his first of the year at 6:20, while Andre Savage notched his sixth at 10:34.
Goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped all 26 shots for his first shutout of the season. The 19-year-old rookie improved his record to 7-4-2.
Savage's goal was his third in as many nights and moved him into a tie with former Bruin Peter Ferraro for sixth place on the franchise career list. Savage has 60-83-143 totals in 147 career games with Providence.
The Bruins and Wolf Pack will stage a battle for sole possession of the Atlantic Division lead when they face off in Providence on Friday, December 12 at 7:05 p.m. The Bruins also host Lowell on Sunday, December 14 at 4:05 p.m.
