The Grizzlies regained the lead just 1:19 later on a shot from forward Barry Almeida that slipped past Eagles goaltender Clarke Saunders, giving Utah a 2-1 lead with 12:04 to play in the opening period.

Utah added to their lead when defenseman Marc Cantin was set up off the face-off and scored a bullet from the blue line to give the Grizzlies a 3-1 lead with just 45 seconds left in the first period. Utah would carry the 3-1 lead into intermission.

The Eagles cut the Utah lead to one goal on the power play, when forward Everett Sheen found an opening in front of the net to make it 3-2 Grizzlies with 12:55 to play in the second period.

Utah gained some padding when forward Alex Krushelnyski notched a one-timer, giving the Grizzlies a 4-2 lead at the 11:52 mark of the second period.

Despite being outshot 9-3 in the second period, Utah carried a 4-2 lead into second intermission.

The Grizzlies added three goals in the third. Forward Charles Sarault scored on a 2-on-1 rush to give Utah a 5-2 lead just 1:05 into the final period. The Eagles pulled Saunders in favor of the extra skater at the 13:45 mark of period and Utah would take advantage. Forward Matt Berry scored an empty-net goal to give the Grizzlies a 6-2 lead.
