Utah Flash News Release
OREM, Utah, Jan. 5, 2011 - The Utah Flash have acquired forward Tony Gaffney. Gaffney will fill the open roster spot left by Bennet Davis, who was waived due to injury.
Gaffney, a 6' 8" forward who went to school at University of Massachusetts, averaged a double-double his Senior season with 11.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He was signed by the Boston Celtics towards the end of last season, and remained on the team for Boston's playoff run. Recently Gaffney played in Turkey, until he was picked up by the Flash today.
"Tony brings a high level of energy and athleticism which will be a welcomed shot in the arm to our team," said Head Coach Kevin Young. "He is a tenacious rebounder and great defender. We look forward to helping him get back to the NBA."
The Flash play the Reno Bighorns on Friday January 7, and Saturday January 8 at the UCCU Center. Tickets can be purchased by calling 801-434-4667.
