OVERVIEW: The Blaze kept their playoff chances alive last weekend with a crucial division win against visiting Los Angeles 63-61 at the Delta Center, snapping a four-game skid. The Blaze have a short week to prepare to take on defending AFL Champion Colorado Crush Friday night in Denver. The game will feature a matchup between the two top receivers in the league in Utah's SIAHA BURLEY goes up against Colorado's DAMIEN HARREL. Harrell leads the league in every major receiving statistic with Burley close behind. Both are on pace to break several AFL receiving records. The Crush are coming off a 55-49 win in front of a national audience at expansion Kansas City on NBC. Colorado holds the top spot in the American Conference and has already clinched a playoff berth. With a 4-8 record, the Blaze are tied for sixth in the American Conference with Chicago (who they play on May 6 in Chicago), but if the season were to end today, Chicago owns the tie-breaker advantage with wins versus common opponents.
THE SERIES: This will mark the first meeting between the two teams. It will also be the 12th meeting between head coaches DANNY WHITE and MIKE DAILY. Coach White holds a 6-5 overall advantage in the coaching match up, going 4-4 in the regular season. White is 3-1 all-time versus Colorado in his career, going 1-1 on the road.
WHAT'S AHEAD: The Blaze will play at conference foe Las Vegas on April 29. The Blaze then travel to face sixth-place tiebreaker Chicago on May 6. Utah returns to the Delta Center for the final game of the season against expansion Kansas City on May 12.

LAST WEEK:
KELLY PROVIDES SPARK AS BLAZE WIN, 63-61
Kelly-to-Burley Connection Snaps Skid Against Los Angeles
SALT LAKE CITY - Newly-acquired QB ANDY KELLY, the AFL all-time leading passer, only had six days to prepare for a pivotal game against Western Division rival Los Angeles, but he responded with eight-touchdown performance as the Blaze swept the series against the Avengers with a 63-61 victory in front of 15,642 fans at the Delta Center on Saturday night.
The victory keeps Utah's postseason hopes alive and snaps a four-game losing streak with their first home victory against a divisional foe.
"I knew we had to win and we had to win now," head coach DANNY WHITE said. "We just needed a spark and Andy provided that tonight."
Kelly found OS SIAHA BURLEY five times in the end zone to help the Blaze primary offensive out of a mini-slump and the two were named Co-Offensive Players of the Game. Kelly finished 21-of-33 passing for 285 yards and eight touchdowns and one interception. Burley finished with 11 receptions for 152 yards and five touchdowns.
"Siaha was pretty much unstoppable," White said. "His legs have been tired. We rested him the last two days and I think it helped him a lot tonight."
Holding onto a one-point lead late in the fourth quarter, Utah elected for an onside kick. FB/LB KEVIN CLEMENS successfully recovered and Kelly then found Burley for his fifth touchdown of the game, 34th of the season. The Avengers scored late in the game but WR/LB JUSTIN SKAGGS tipped the two-point pass attempt to seal the victory.
Utah WR/DB ORSHAWANTE BRYANT finished with five receptions for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Kelly showed poise in the pocket as he continued to buy time and find open receivers all game long.
"From day one, the guys made me feel at home," Kelly said. "Once the game started, I felt pretty comfortable. Coach (White) did a great job of keeping it simple tonight. The guys responded around me and did a great job."
The Blaze scored on nearly every possession in the first half, but were only able to head into the break with a 35-34 lead as the Avengers QB SONNY CUMBIE threw a Hail-Mary pass as time expired that bounced off the cross bar and into the hands of WR/DB KEVIN INGRAM.
DS KELVIN HUNTER was named ADT Defensive Player of the Game as he finished with 6.5 tackles and three pass breakups. DS/KR KEVIN MOFFETT was name Ironman of the Game as he lead the team with 8.0 total tackles and returned kickoffs for the first time all season and finished with five returns for 136 yards, including and electrifying 54-yard touchdown return, the first in Blaze history.
"It was a big win. We needed it." Moffett said. "My blocking did a great job, gave me a seam, and I was able to accelerate. We just need to take it one game at a time."

THE COACHES:
Utah - Danny White, 14th season
125-63 (.665) reg. season; 145-73 (.665) overall
3-1 career vs. Colorado
White is currently in his 14th season as an AFL head coach and first with the Blaze. White has compiled a record of 145-73 and advanced to the AFL Playoffs in 12 of the previous 13 years (hasn't missed the postseason since 1992). Prior to joining the Blaze, White was the head coach of the Arizona Rattlers for 13 seasons (1992-2004). The AFL Hall of Fame coach has two titles (1994 and 1997) to his credit and has made five ArenaBowl appearances (1994, 97, 2002-04). During his last season in Arizona in 2004, White compiled a 13-6 record and made his third straight ArenaBowl appearance. White, won AFL "Coach of the Year" award in 1993. White officially became the head coach of the Blaze on April 21, 2005. He played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys (1976-88) and helped lead the Cowboys to the postseason five times and won three NFC East titles during his tenure as starting QB. In his first year as a starter (1980), White set the club single-season record for touchdown passes (28) and then broke the record (29) in 1983. Those records still stand as the top two single-season marks in franchise history. He still owns eight Cowboy records and is the member of FOUR Halls of Fame (Arizona Sports, Arizona State, College Football and Arena Football).
Colorado - Mike Dailey, 5th season
88-57 (.607) reg. season; 97-61 (.614) overall
0-0 career vs. Utah
Mike Dailey is in his third season in Colorado and tenth as head coach in the AFL. Dailey joined the Crush following 13 seasons in the Albany/Indiana Firebirds organization, including the final seven as head coach. Last season under Dailey's guidance, the Crush captured their first Central Division title en route to claiming a 51-48 victory in ArenaBowl XIX giving Colorado their first AFL championship in only their third year of existence. The Crush finished the year with a 13-6 mark, which included a franchise record seven-game winning streak during the regular season. In his first season in Colorado, Dailey helped guide the Crush to the largest turnaround in AFL history, inheriting a 2-14 team and leading them to an 11-5 record in 2004, tied for the best in the league. He also led the Crush to their first playoff appearance and first win, advancing to the AFL Semifinals before falling nine yards short of up-ending top-seeded Arizona and earning a trip to ArenaBowl XVIII. One of the most successful and well-respected coaches in AFL history, Dailey's teams have compiled an overall record of 97-61 record, a winning percentage of 61.4. His teams have also made seven postseason appearances and he has won four division titles and two championships.

COLORADO PLAYER TO WATCH:
OS DAMIEN HARRELL - Damien Harrell is the reigning Offensive Player of the Year and currently leads the AFL with 115 receptions for 1,479 yards and 43 touchdowns. Harrell could break the AFL single season touchdown mark of 46 before the end of the season.
HOME HEATS UP: The Utah Blaze currently are No. 3 in the Arena Football League in average attendance (15,304) and have drawn 107,130 fans in just seven games. The Philadelphia Soul (15,714 average) and Kansas City (15,558) are the two teams ahead of the Blaze. The Blaze have recorded three sellouts (Dallas on Feb. 4, San Jose on March 4 and Los Angeles on April 15).
ARENA QB RATING: The debate has gone on for years in the AFL... Does the outdoor QB Rating really translate to the indoor game? In a game where possessions and completion percentage dictates whether you win or lose, we decided to come up with a different formula that puts more weight on "TD-INT ratio" and completion percentage and no emphasis on yardage. Here's how it works:
TD% = TDs divided by TDs + INT
ARENA QB FORMULA: Multiply the TD% by 2 and add the completion % and divide it all by 3.
Since the AFL is a different game, below is the current ranking of the top 10 QBs based on the rating system for AFL QBs:
QUARTERBACK COM% TDs INT TD % ARENA RATING*
Clint Dolezel, DAL 65.6% 79 6 92.9% 83.8%

FEELING THE CRUSH: QB ANDY KELLY was dominant in his first game with the Blaze in which he recorded eight touchdowns while tossing just one interception. Kelly has been almost flawless in his four games against the Crush by throwing 27 touchdowns while tossing only one interception.
BURLEY TIME: OS SIAHA BURLEY has recorded 10 touchdowns in his last four games. Burley looks to surpass the 100-catch mark for his third straight season. Burley has 10 touchdowns for his career against the Colorado Crush. His best three games against Colorado came in the last two seasons in which he made 27 receptions and scored nine of the 10 touchdowns.
