ANOTHER CHAPTER IN WAR ON I-4 SET FOR SATURDAY
Arena Football's oldest and most intense rivalry returns this weekend when the Orlando Predators (8-4, 4-1) host their arch-nemesis -- the Tampa Bay Strom (6-6, 3-3) this Saturday at Hummer Field.
The Predators are coming off an emotional 57-41 win over Georgia that propelled Orlando into a first place tie with Austin, who also went 8-4 on the season with a last-second touchdown and two-point conversion to beat the Storm, 60-59.
The game will mark the 39th contest between the Predators and Tampa Bay. No two AFL teams have met more often than the Predators and Storm - with the teams splitting the series at 18 games each, including Orlando's thrilling 67-64 overtime win over Tampa earlier this season.
This is a crucial contest for both teams. A win would move the Predators to 9-4 on the season and 5-1 in the Southern Division - keeping alive their aspirations to claim their first division title since 2002. After starting the season with six wins in 10 games, the Storm have now lost two games in a row and could be put in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time ever if they fail defeat the Predators.

Front Page Quote
"As a professional player, these are the type of games you live for. This is a late season game against your arch-rival which has enormous playoff implications. If you aren't excited about playing this game, you are not alive."
--Predators Head Coach Jay Gruden
THE COACHES
PREDS HEAD COACH JAY GRUDEN
Fifteen seasons in the Arena Football League. Fifteen seasons in the playoffs. Seven trips to the ArenaBowl. Six championship rings. An average of 10.8 wins per season. Whether as a head coach, player or offensive coordinator, Jay Gruden's name has been synonymous with success in the Arena Football League.
Gruden began his AFL career as a quarterback with the Tampa Bay Storm in 1991. A two-time All- Arena selection and the 1992 MVP, he led the Storm to six consecutive playoff appearances and an unprecedented four ArenaBowl titles under three different head coaches.
At age 30, he became the youngest head coach in the Arena Football League when the Orlando Predators hired him to replace the legendary Perry Moss - who retired after nearly 50 years in the coaching profession. Gruden's impact on the Predators was immediate. After a 9-5 regular season mark, Gruden guided the Predators to a pair of playoff wins to set up an ArenaBowl match-up with top-seeded Tampa Bay. Although the Storm came into the game with a 14-2 record and were prohibitive 14-point favorites, Gruden delivered Orlando 's first ArenaBowl championship with an incredible 62-31 win over the Storm.
During the next two seasons he would continue to set league history. Gruden became the first AFL coach to take a number eight seed to the ArenaBowl as Orlando recorded stunning road upsets in 1999 over top-seeded Tampa Bay (41-19) and second-seeded Iowa (48-41). The following season, the Predators started 7-0 and finished the 2000 campaign with an 11-3 record, capturing the second seed for the playoffs and winning a second ArenaBowl title.
In one of the most unusual moves in AFL history, Gruden announced his resignation as head coach of the Predators to return to the playing field as Orlando's quarterback after the 2001 season. In two years as Predators quarterback, Gruden compiled an impressive 20-9 record as a starter. Gruden returned to the Predators sideline as Head Coach and Director of Football Operations in July 2003. In his first season back, Gruden directed the Predators to his third 10-win season and upped his career record to 53-30-0 (.639) as an AFL head coach. In 2005, the Predators won 10 games again.
For his AFL career, Gruden has posted some truly remarkable numbers. As a head coach, he is 72-41-0 (including an 8-4 mark in 2006) and ranks in the top 10 overall in coaching wins and winning percentage. He is one of only five AFL coaches with two or more ArenaBowl championships. In the playoffs, his 9-4 mark as a head coach ranks in the top five all-time in victories and winning percentage. As a quarterback, he ranks in the top ten with more than 20,000 passing yards and close to 400 touchdowns. He won 15 of 19 post-season starts with 4,761 passing yards and 77 touchdowns. Gruden was 84-25 (.770) as a starting quarterback. That mark, combined with his 10-5 record as Nashville's offensive coordinator and his 72-41 record as head coach, takes Gruden's all-time Arena Football League record to 166-71 (.701). As a player, assistant coach or head coach, Gruden has never failed to lead his team to the playoffs.

TAMPA BAY HEAD COACH TIM MARCUM
Now in his 18th season, Tampa Bay Head Coach Tim Marcum has coached more games, won more games, has the top winning percentage for coaches and has won more ArenaBowl championships than any man in Arena Football League history.
A charter member of the Arena Football League Hall of Fame, Marcum has never failed to take his team to the Arena Football League playoffs. He is the AFL's career leader in games coached (254), games won (180), winning percentage (.709) and post-season victories (25). Marcum is also the only coach in AFL history to guide three different teams to ArenaBowl championships, taking titles with Denver (1987), Detroit (1988-89-92), and Tampa Bay (1995-96-2003).
A two-time AFL Coach of the Year award winner (1987-1998), Marcum was the first coach in AFL history to win 100 games.
Named AFL Coach of the Year in 1987 and 1998,
Marcum is 125-62 in his 12+ seasons with the Tampa
Bay Storm.
GRUDEN MAKES 35th APPEARANCE IN WAR ON I-4
Perhaps no individual has had a bigger influence on the War on I-4 than Orlando Predators head coach Jay Gruden who is making a record 35th appearance as a player or head coach in the game. Just as the series has been close with the series tied at 18-18, Gruden's winning percentage is also at the .500 mark, as he has appeared on the winning side 17 times and on the losing side 17 times. It's interesting to note that regardless of the role he has played in the game, Gruden is at the .500 mark as either a player or a coach. As quarterback of the Tampa Bay Storm, Gruden was 7-7-0 against the Orlando Predators. As Head Coach of the Predators, Gruden is 8-8-0 - winning seven of the last 11 to pull even. When Gruden returned to the playing field as quarterback for the Orlando Predators in 2002-03, he once again finished with a .500 record, recording a 2-2-0 mark against his former team.

SERIES HISTORY:
With a 67-64 overtime win over Tampa Bay in Week 4 of the 2006 season, the Predators evened the series with the Storm at 19-19...As mentioned earlier, no other teams in the Arena Football League have a longer, continuously running series than the Predators and Tampa Bay...This week's game marks the 39th meeting between the two teams, dating back to the 1991 season...The teams have played in the same division since Orlando joined the league in 1991...The series has featured two regular season games each year and the Predators have met the Storm seven times in the post-season...In addition, the Predators have played the Storm in five pre-season games (results not included in series records), as well as several pre-season scrimmages... In a testament to how evenly matched these two teams are, it should be noted that the Storm hold a 16-15 edge in regular season games, with the Predators holding a 4-3 edge in post-season games...Orlando has won three of the last four post-season contests between the Storm and Predators, sending their archrivals packing for three consecutive years from 1998-2001...Tampa Bay returned the favor by pounding out a 60-50 win in the semifinals during the 2003 season...Tim Marcum will be coaching in his 29th War on I-4...he holds a 15-13 record against the Predators...With a win earlier this year against the Storm, the Predators will have an opportunity to sweep the regular season series for just fourth time (1993, 1997, 2001)...The Storm also have three regular season sweeps (1995, 1998, 1999)...Of the six series sweeps between Orlando and Tampa Bay, it is interesting to note that the two teams ended up playing each other in the post-season in four of those years...Tampa Bay is the only team to beat the other three times in one season - winning regular season games in the 1995 season (51-34 and 44-20) and then coming back to beat the Predators in the post-season with a 48-35 win in the ArenaBowl...in the other three seasons when three games have been played, the team that swept the regular season series has lost the playoff game (1993, 1998, and 1999) The all-time series scores between the Predators and Storm follow:

THE JAY FACTOR: No discussion of the Orlando / Tampa Bay series would be complete without re-hashing the "Jay Factor." For those new to Arena Football, Gruden was Tampa Bay's "Golden Boy" quarterback of the early â90's, leading the team to four AFL championships in six years - winning the last two under Tim Marcum. Gruden left the game as a player in 1997 to assume the offensive coordinator's job with the expansion Nashville Kats. After helping that team to an AFL expansion-record 10 wins that season, Gruden came on the radar screen of the Predators Search Committee that was attempting to find a new Head Coach. The Predators shocked Storm fans a few months later by announcing that at age 30, Gruden would become the new Head Coach of the Orlando Predators. In his first season, the Storm thumped the Predators twice by an average of 17 points. Those games led up to the third contest between the two in ArenaBowl XII. By racing to a 14-2 record, Tampa entered the game as prohibitive 15-point favorites over the Predators; while Orlando needed a miracle comeback in the desert against Arizona to keep its championship hopes alive. After a close first half, everything that could possibly go wrong for a team went wrong for Tampa Bay in the first six minutes of the third quarter as the Predators would claim their first AFL championship, 62-31, on the home floor of its arch-rivals with their former hero leading the Predators charge. The following season would once again have a surreal ending for the Storm. After another outstanding season, Tampa Bay entered the playoffs as the league's number one seed (11-3) and would host Gruden and his #8 seeded Orlando team (7-7). After jumping out to a 10-0 lead at halftime, it looked like Tampa Bay would get its much sought-after revenge, only to see the Predators outscore them 41-7 in the second half and become the first and only last-seeded AFL team to take-out a top-seeded team in the playoffs. To add insult to injury, Gruden knocked his former team out of the playoffs for a third consecutive season in 2000, as the #2 seeded Predators took a 34-24 win in the TD Waterhouse Centre. In his final season as Head Coach before returning to the playing field, Gruden again put a hurting on the Storm, sweeping the 2001 regular season series. Coming back in 2002 as a player, Gruden lost a close three-point game at home, but guided the Preds to a 55-48 win on the road in 2002. Gruden added a second victory against his former team as a player, with a 54-51 win over the Storm back on Feb. 10 of 2003, but did not participate in the rematch - suffering an ankle injury in Week four and missing six games. Tampa Bay defeated Gruden and the Preds in a semifinal game that year. Since joining the Predators, Gruden has guided Orlando to a 10-10 record against his former team, including a 3-1 mark in the playoffs. Adding more juice to the Gruden/Tampa Bay situation was the fact that the Storm "retired" Jay Gruden's jersey in a ceremony a few years ago and then unceremoniously "un-retired" his jersey in 2002 and re-issued it to a player right before an Orlando-Tampa Bay game. Tampa would later re-retire the number after Gruden left the game as a player in 2003.

ORLANDO-TAMPA BAY CONNECTIONS
Not only are Tampa Bay and Orlando closely connected by just 70 miles of interstate, but the teams share a lot of personnel bonds as indicated by the following: Predators Head Coach Jay Gruden was Tampa Bay's starting quarterback from 1991-96, guiding that team to four championships...Predators WR/LB Clif Dell currently on IR, was an outstanding player for the Orlando Predators from 1999-2002 and played a key role in the Preds' 2000 AFL championship season, he then went to Tampa Bay via free-agency and played for the Storm from 2002-2005 before returning to the Predators...Storm QB Pat O'Hara played for the Predators from 1995-2000, directing Orlando to its first title as a starting quarterback in 1998...with the Predators, O'Hara earned a spot as one of Orlando's Top 20 Most Significant Players in franchise history... OL/DL Doug Miller is a Tampa native...Preds WR/DB DeAndrew Rubin played college football at the University of South Florida in Tampa...Tampa Bay lineman Buck Gurley played the last two seasons for the Predators...Storm DS Tramain Jones played briefly with the Predators in 2002...Storm WR Ronney Daniels went to training camp with the Predators in 2003.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS IN PREDS/STORM SERIES: No set of game notes on the Orlando -Tampa Bay game would be complete without a recap of the biggest and most-important games in this series.
Orlando 51, Tampa Bay 38 (June 1, 1991)
In the first game in franchise history for both teams, Reggie Collier threw for seven touchdowns, three each to Reggie Smith and Herkie Walls, as the Predators prevailed 51-38. Tampa Bay would get the last laugh, however, beating Orlando in the rematch; post an 8-2 season and win the ArenaBowl under first-year quarterback Jay Gruden.
Orlando 24, Tampa Bay 21 (August 15, 1992)
After splitting a pair of games in the regular season, the Preds and Storm hooked up in the AFL semifinals. After playing to a 21-21 draw through four quarters, Jorge Cimadevilla won it for Orlando with a 17-yard field goal in overtime.
Orlando 46, Tampa Bay 45 (June 19, 1993)
The rivalry was at an all-time high when an AFL record 28,746 fans jammed the Thunderdome to watch two of the league's best teams square off. Jay Gruden's two-point conversion attempt fell incomplete with 2:29 remaining as the Predators held on for a 46-45 win and a regular season series sweep.
Tampa Bay 55, Orlando 52 (August 14, 1993)
The league's two best teams met in the semifinals for the second consecutive year. This time, the Predators trailed for most of the game but tied the score at 38-38 on a 4th quarter Billy Owens' touchdown. Momentum appeared on the Predators side when they held Tampa Bay to a field goal on the next possession, but Arden Czyzewski's ensuing kickoff bounced off the net frame and was recovered by Jeff Mayes for a touchdown and 10-point Storm lead.
Tampa Bay 40, Orlando 39 (August 13, 1994)
This one was an especially bitter pill for the Predators to swallow. After running off 11 consecutive wins, the Orlando Predators missed an opportunity to become just the seventh team in modern day professional football to record a perfect regular season when Mike Lazecki booted an 18-yard field goal with 31 seconds remaining to give the Storm a 40-39 upset win. Orlando still had a chance to win, until quarterback Duke Tobin's fifth interception fell in the hands of Storm defensive back Eddie Brown in the Tampa Bay end zone with 10 seconds remaining.
Tampa Bay 48, Orlando 35 (Sept. 1, 1995)
Although Orlando completed the regular season at a shaky 7-5 and barely qualified for the playoffs, the Preds fought their way through the playoffs with a pair of road upsets to meet the Storm in the ArenaBowl for the first time. But two much Jay Gruden resulted in a relatively easy 13-point win for the Storm.
Orlando 40, Tampa Bay 39, July 19, 1995
In one of the hardest hitting, nastiest and controversial finishes in series history, back-up quarterback Brad Lebo completed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Alex Shell at the buzzer to pull the Predators back to within one point at 39-38. Electing to go for the win, Barry Wagner's two-point conversion pass to Jeff Parker was ruled incomplete, but Tampa was called for an illegal defense. Following an unsportsman-like penalty on Tampa Head Coach Tim Marcum, the Predators lined up from inside the one and ran a sweep to Michael McClendon, who tripped at the one and then bounced into an end zone for the two-point conversion. Tampa would claim that McClendon was down "by contact" and would later protest the game claiming clock irregularities, but Orlando held on for the win.
Orlando 54, Tampa Bay 30, June 27, 1997
In a game labeled as "Pizza Gate," new Predators owner Will Meris backed Barry Wagner's win guarantee by promising a free large Papa John's Pizza to each fan in attendance if Orlando failed to win. Staring a bill of $82,348.75 in the face (Papa John's quoted the Predators a price of $5.50 + tax per pie in the non-sponsored promotion), Meris was relieved when Mac Cody scored four touchdowns and Orlando crushed the Storm by 24.
Orlando 62, Tampa Bay 31, August 23, 1998
After being crushed by the Storm twice in the regular season, the Predators pulled off the biggest and most-unlikely upset in ArenaBowl history with a 62-31 win over 14-2 Tampa Bay. Rookie head coach Jay Gruden watched on as his Predators used six interceptions (three by Chris Barber) and a record rushing performance by Rick Hamilton (82 yards, 3 touchdowns) to defeat their archrivals and claim their first ArenaBowl championship. Leading 24-17 at the half, the Predators scored 36 second half points without completing a pass!
Orlando 41, Tampa Bay 19 (August 7, 1999)
Orlando became the first #8 seed in AFL history to knock off a #1 seed, as the 7-7 Predators shocked the 11-3 Storm, 41-19 in the playoffs. Orlando trailed 10-0 at the half, but dominated every aspect of the second half. Orlando would go on to become the first #8 seed to ever make it to the ArenaBowl, after upsetting #2 seeded Iowa the following week, 48-41.
Orlando 34, Tampa Bay 24 (August 8, 2000)
For an unprecedented third consecutive year, the Predators and Gruden would send Tampa Bay packing in the playoffs. This time, it was more difficult, as Orlando led by just three (20-17) in the third quarter, but Joe Douglass scored on a 33-yard pass from Connell Maynor and Maynor then ran over from the 9-yard line as the Preds took a 34-17 lead late in the 4th quarter.
Tampa Bay 60, Orlando 50 (June 7, 2003)
John Kaleo out-dueled Jay Gruden as the Tampa Bay Storm knocked off the Orlando Predators, 60-50, in the semifinals of the Arena Football League playoffs. Orlando had a 28-20 lead in the second quarter, when several bad breaks led to Tampa Bay taking a 33-31 lead at the half. A questionable call on a deflected pass that was ruled a lateral, combined with an apparent touchdown pass from Jay Gruden to Travis McGriff that was ruled an incomplete pass, resulted in a nine-point swing and a huge shift in momentum.
Tampa Bay 63, Orlando 58 (May 2, 2004)
The Orlando Predators staged a valiant come-from-behind effort, but fell short as the Tampa Bay Storm won a 63-58 decision in front of a sellout crowd of 13,714 at the TD Waterhouse Centre. Tampa Bay took a 51-28 lead into the fourth quarter-only to see the Predators mount a 23-0 run to tie the score at 51-51 with just under six minutes remaining. After a Tampa score and missed extra point gave the Predators possession down by six with less than a minute to go, the Storm defense won it for Tampa Bay by holding the Predators to a four-and-out. Travis McGriff had a huge night for Orlando, gaining 313 all-purpose yards and scoring four touchdowns. Cory Fleming added 131 yards on 12 catches as Orlando saw its season record fall to 6-6.
Orlando 67, Tampa Bay 64 -OT (Feb. 19, 2006)
Clif Dell recovered a ball of the nets on a kickoff for a 4-yard touchdown and Kenny McEntyre returned a fumble 35-yards for a touchdown as the Orlando Predators built a huge 40-14 lead in the second quarter. But that lead evaporated in the second half, as Bobby Sippio scored on a 3-yard pass with 39 seconds remaining and Lawrence Samuels hauled in a 22-yard pass as time expired as Tampa Bay rallied to tie the scored at 64-64. In overtime, the Predators defense recorded a stop and Jay Taylor booted a 17-yard field goal as the Predators escaped with a 67-64 win. It was the second time in the 38 meetings that Orlando and Tampa Bay went to overtime with the Predators winning both of those games.

PREDS MAKE ROSTER MOVES
The Orlando Predators had one of their biggest transaction days of the season - making six roster moves last Thursday.
Among the moves made was the placing lineman Charles Hill on injured reserve and placing Cleveland Pinkney on recallable waivers. The loss of Pinkney came as a minor surprise, as the AFL rookie and former Tampa Bay Bucs lineman signed with the Detroit Lions.
Placing Pinkney on recallable waivers was necessary, as NFL regulations prohibit member teams from signing players under contracts to other leagues. Pinkney, who is one season away from accruing enough NFL roster time to earn a pension, ask for his release so he could sign with the Lions. "As policy, we have never stood in a player's way who had a chance to advance to the NFL," Predators head coach Jay Gruden said. "Cleveland thought it was in his best interest to sign with the Lions and attend the upcoming mini-camps. We certainly will welcome him back if things don't work out."
In addition to those two moves, the Predators activated WR/DB Lin-J Shell,
OL/DL Doug Miller, and FB/LB Idris Price from injured reserve and signed OL/DL Delanio Taylor from the Predators' practice squad.
FOUR GAME WINNING STREAK LED BY HAMILTON
One only needs to look at the play of quarterback Joe Hamilton to explain the Predators current four game winning streak. During the 4-0 run, Hamilton has completed 83 of 116 passes (71.6%) for 999 yards, 16 touchdowns and no interceptions. Hamilton has helped his own cause with his feet, rushing for 67 yards and three additional scores as Orlando has outscored their opponents, 198-141 during the run.
ORLANDO SELLS RECORD NUMBER OF SEASON TICKETS/LARGEST CROWD OF SEASON EXPECTED
With three-game package season tickets still being sold, Orlando Predators President Brett Bouchy announced that season ticket sales have reached record numbers. As of last 12 Noon on Monday (April 17), the team has sold 11,224 individual and corporate season tickets. The team began renewing those tickets for the 2007 season last week at the Georgia game. Fans who renew their seats before May 31, will receive several benefits including a limited edition Orlando Predators cap (one cap for every two tickets in the account), no price increase for 2007 and preferential treatment in seating upgrades.
The Tampa Bay game is shaping up to be the biggest game of the season in terms of home attendance. As of 12 noon
Monday, the Predators announced that 13,309 tickets have already been sold for the game. Last week, 14,371 fans attended the Georgia game, the second largest crowd of the season behind the 14,381 fans that attended the Philadelphia game in week three. Based on current sales trends, the Predators are expecting close to a sellout crowd of 15,900 for the game.
PREDATORS GETTING DEFENSIVE; WINNING STREAK NOW STANDS AT FOUR
After giving up a franchise record 87 points to Dallas five weeks ago, the Predators defense has given up just 141 points in the last four games, an average of just 35.3 points per game. The Predators have moved up to sixth in scoring defense after languishing near the bottom fourth of the league during the first eight games of the seasons. During the last four games, the Predators 141 points allowed has been second fewest in the Arena Football League. Only Dallas (138) has give up fewer points over the four-game stretch. During the last four weeks, the Predators have recorded a 4-0 mark, the longest current winning streak in the Arena Football League and the longest since the team won four in a row to end the 2004 season. The four wins in a row ties as the 10th longest regular season winning streak in Predators history. The longest regular season winning streak in Predators history was 12, as the team won the nine regular season games of 1992 and the first three of 1993.

PREDATORS TOUGH AT HOME
With back-to-back home wins over Chicago and Georgia, Hummer Field and the TD Waterhouse Centre remains one of the toughest places in the Arena Football League for visiting teams to win. Counting a 5-1 (.833) mark this season, Orlando has won 17 of their last 19 home games (.897) and 88 of 122 home games (.721) since joining the Arena Football League in 1991. The Predators are tied with Nashville for the best record at home this season; while the Dallas Desperados (6-0) have the best record away from home.

PREDS CAN EXTEND MARK WITH A VICTORY
With a win on Saturday against Tampa Bay, the Orlando Predators would guarantee themselves an overall winning record (including playoffs) for an AFL record 14th consecutive season. At 8-4, the Predators have already assured themselves of finishing with a regular season record of .500 or better for 14 straight seasons. A win on Saturday would push the Predators to 9-4 on the season, meaning that even if Orlando lost their last three regular season games and their first playoff game, they would still finish with a 9-8 mark. Orlando has had only one losing season ever, posting a 3-7 mark in their first season in 1991. Since then, the team has finished the regular season above .500 in 12 of 14 seasons - finishing at .500 twice (7-7 in both 1999 and 2002). In both the 1999 and 2002 seasons, the Predators won a pair of playoff games to finish above .500 overall. Obviously, the Predators have their goals set a lot higher than a .500 mark in 2006. Orlando is seeking their seventh division title overall.

KEEPING UP WITH THE TAYLORS
Jay Taylor has Five in a Row
Although he has struggled on extra points the last few weeks, Jay Gruden continues to excel in field goals. With a 19-yard conversion last week against Georgia, Taylor has now connected on five consecutive attempts and eight of his last nine tries. For the season, Taylor is 13 of 20 (65.0%), with three of his seven misses coming from outside of 47 yards. For his career, Taylor has now booted 34 of 53 career attempts. His 64.1% career accuracy on field goal attempts is an Orlando Predators record and would also be an Arena Football League record if he had the required number of minimum attempts (75) to qualify in that category.
Henry Taylor Climbs Up Sack List
With 7.5 quarterback sacks this season, Henry Taylor has now moved up to 5th place on the Predators all-time list for single season quarterback sacks. Taylor moved past Jermaine Smith (7-2004) for sole possession of fifth place last week with a sack against the Georgia Force. He would need to record three quarterback sacks in the final four regular season game to pass EJ Burt (2003) and Rupert Grant (2004) for first place on the Predators all-time list at 9.5.

PREDS CONTINUE TO RUN THE ROCK
With 25 net rushing yards against the Georgia Force, the Orlando Predators continue to be one of the top rushing teams in terms of both yards per game and rushing touchdowns. At 33.4 yards per game, the Predators rank second in the league and also rank second in the league in rushing touchdowns with 26. This should come as no surprise as Orlando has finished in the top three in rushing in 11 of 14 AFL seasons.

1st PLACE ON LINE FOR PREDATORS
If the Arena Football League playoffs were to start this weekend, the Orlando Predators (8-4-0) would find themselves with a first round bye as Southern Division champions. That is based on the fact that Orlando would win the Southern Division over Austin based on head-to-head competition. Still the Predators have little breathing room, as Austin (8-4) is tied for first place in the division (the teams meet in Orlando in the season finale), while Georgia is just one game back and Tampa Bay two back in the division. Jay Gruden Quote
"The win over Georgia was nice, but at 8-4, we are not guaranteed anything. We have three teams just one game behind us and they are nipping at our heels. Tampa Bay is just two games behind. We almost need to forget about last week's win and understand that a loss to Tampa will put us back with the pack."
GRUDEN SIXTH FASTEST TO 70 WINS, CLOSING IN ON GREGORY FOR 8th PLACE
Now in his seventh season as head coach and director of football operations, Jay Gruden picked up his 72nd win as an Arena Football head coach last Friday against Georgia. Gruden is now just one win behind John Gregory (73-57 in 10 seasons) for eighth place on the all-time AFL win list. Winning 70 of his first 111 games, Gruden was the sixth fastest to 70 wins in AFL history.

HAMILTON CLOSING IN ON O'HARA
After passing Ben Bennett on the Predators all-time passing list two weeks ago against Chicago, QB Joe Hamilton threw for 339 yards against Georgia last week and continues to close in on Pat O'Hara in his effort to become the most prolific passer in Orlando Predators history. In his seven-year career with the Predators, O'Hara threw for 9,676 yards. With is effort on Friday, Hamilton now has 9,165 --- 511 yards shy of O'Hara's mark. Hamilton become just the second quarterback in Predators history to reach 9,000 career passing yards with his effort last week.

In addition to pursuing the Predators career passing mark, QB Joe Hamilton is on pace to shatter the single season record for passing yards and is close to a record breaking pace for single season touchdowns. To date, Hamilton has thrown for 3,014 yards and is on pace to throw for 4,018 yards. If he manages to maintain that pace, he will break Jay Gruden's single season mark of 3,621 yards set in 2002. Hamilton currently has 50 touchdown passes on the season. At his current pace, he would finish with 67 touchdown passes, one short of Jay Gruden's 2002 record of 68. Here are the numbers:

DUDLEY ON PACE FOR 1,000 RECEIVING YARDS
With 714 receiving yards in just nine games, Orlando Predators rookie Javarus Dudley is on pace to finish the season with 1,030 receiving yards. That total would rank as the fourth highest among Orlando Predators rookies. Dudley, out of Fordham University, has made an immediate impact in his first season with the Predators. He earned "Ironman of the Game" honors last week against Georgia and was "Offensive Player of the Game" in his efforts against Columbus two weeks ago. Dudley has 15 receptions for 209 yards and has scored four touchdowns (3 receiving, 1 rushing) in his last two games.

While an earlier note talked about the Predators success rushing to ball, it is also interesting to note that Orlando ranks as the toughest team in the league to run against inside the red zone. To date, the Orlando Predators rank 4th in the league in rushing defense, allowing just 17.2 yards per game. But once a team gets inside the red zone, Orlando is even tougher. Through 12 games the Predators have allowed a league-low seven rushing touchdowns and are the only team in the league that has not given up at least 10 rushing touchdowns this season. PREDS HAVE FOUR ON PACE FOR 600; STATS MATCH WORLD CHAMPIONS OF 2000
For the first time in Orlando Predators history, the Predators have four different receivers on pace to catch 600+ yards of passes in a single regular season. Jimmy Fryzel (61-737), Jerrian James (54-737) and Javarus Dudley (52-714) have already reached the mark; while DeAndrew Rubin (36-450) is on pace to finish with 630 yards. The closest the Predators have ever come to having four receivers finish with 600+ yards each came in 2000, when Clif Dell (36-434) came up 166 yards short of joining Bret Cooper (55-881), Ty Law (55-769) and Joe Douglass (53-601) as members of the 600 club. It is interesting to note that no Predators receiver topped 1,000 yards during the 2000 campaign but the team still managed to capture a second world title that year by sharing the wealth among its wide receivers. At the current pace, the Predators also have three receivers on pace to finish with 900+ years each for the first time in franchise history. Here is the Predators "FAB Four" in 2006.
